I am still amazed anyone would rank us preseason #1, despite the amount of talent we have. Did they miss the NC game.

No it isn't. Until you can show up against us or Bama, your defense has not improved. If I was Arkansas, I would be even more embarressed after I watched the NCG and realized the same offense you are calling pathetic and got shut out scored 34 points against you and would have been more if we felt like it. If I was Arky fans I would shut up at least until after next years game because you of all teams have NO ROOM to talk crap.

You may have gotten your crystal but in the SEC your looking up at us which does sound strange I'm not gonna lie. Just a wierd year for CFB all around.

You can have the preseason #1. I NEVER want it for Bama. Here are 4 good reasons not to be #1.
1) Players have a sense of entitlement and therefore a tendency not to work as hard in the offseason.
2) Everybody makes you their target team to beat. They all practice for you a few extra times during preseason and some in bye weeks.
3) Expectations are off chart too high. Any loss can destroy team morale. I've seen it too many times where a top ranked team falls off a cliff after a tough loss and loses several more games afterwards.
4)Opposing coaches work over time and defending players have their best games against you.
The only time its good to be #1 is at the end of the BCSNC game. If you're in the SEC all you have to do is win and you have a shot. Sometimes you can even lose a game. But there is no advantage to being #1.

January 9th took care of reasons #1 and #3...Reasons #2 and #4 are basically the same thing. Thanks Tide.
