I wonder if more boats capsize in Louisiana than in Florida...

Tough call between two states with large shorelines...

Bama would be up there as well except they have a coastline about as big as Saban's sense of humour..

Gulf Shores is nice and all, but that tiny stretch is all Alabama deserved, according to the guys who make maps and whatnot..

Florida didn't pick their mascot, a t-shirt company picked it for them.

Old urban legend, and even so that is not how the story went. It was claimed a guy who owned a local store picked the gator to put on pennants, not some random company.

And I have no idea how they are counting alligators, I have some in my back yard, I have never seen someone come around and count them. The total numbers range depending on the source, some say Florida has more, some say Louisiana. That said, we have our name and we like it.

Louisiana has more wild alligators than Florida does

I believe it. Louisiana ain't nothing but a big old swamp.

Actually Florida and Georgia have much more swampland.
Louisiana has numerous National Forests and State & National Parks ideal for camping, hiking, backpacking, canoing, and sightseeing.

But Louisiana does have many areas for hunting and fishing - hence 'Sportsman's Paradise'.

I mean, Oklahoma has more Seminoles than Florida but that didn't stop a former all-girls school from claiming the mascot.

youre wrong. everything south of alexandria besides north of lake pontchartrain and north of lake charles is swamp or marsh. Id say a solid 20-25% of the state. 20-25% of florida and georgia is not swamp
