I dislike Bama as much as most SEC fans, but to suggest they no longer move the needle is comical. They move the needle way more than most and certainly more than SMU.

Bama has a much better chance of winning versus good competition than SMU or Indiana. The rankings of those two teams have been a joke given their competition, but the committee put themselves in this spot and neither of those teams will be competitive in the playoffs. Bama can realistically beat any team and win it all.

The committee will only have to listen to Bama fans cry if they are left out. If they put them over SMU then they have a nation to listen to.

I’d watch an exciting offense like SMU any day over a Bama that scored 3 points on a trash OU

Conference title games will be alive and well in the B10 and SEC with our top 2 teams always in and both fighting for a bye.

Who cares if the ACC and B12 title games have some drama? Those should be winner take all elimination games in weak 1 bid conferences. The champion of both isn’t even ranked in the top 12. Why are we crying that their #2 gets left out?

Bama in: completely kills conference championship games

Conference championships were killed in 2011 when you cocksuckers didn’t even win the division but were still allowed to play in a national championship game.

Nope.

Not a lose/lose at all.

Reward teams that play for their conference championship.

Don’t reward teams that lose multiple games to teams that are barely bowl eligible.

The bottom line is SMU being ranked #8 put the committee in an impossible situation. If they had ranked them properly then this would not be a discussion. They should have been no higher than #13 prior to the ACC Champ game.

Yeah, yeah Bama lost to OU yadda yadda yadda

SMU in: all the matters is your W-L record if you’re in a P4 conference. The SEC will not be moving to a 9 game conference slate and you can guarantee big OOC matchups will start disappearing for more Mercer type games.

Bama in: completely kills conference championship games, especially for ACC and B12. Teams would possibly opt out of them if possible.

Ratings wise, the first option is suicide for ESPN but probably the “right” thing to do, and the way I expect it to go.

They put themselves in a heck of a mess with some laughable weekly rankings leading up to yesterday.

That Yadda yadda is a pretty big deal my dude. Also no, by letting SMU in they are still keeping conference championships relevant. If they penalized the loser then conferences would ditch it

if they would have ranked bama properly after having been beat by 21 against OU then this also wouldn't be an issue

Only a retarded Alabama fan would believe that they should get the benefit for not even participating.
