Jeremy Hill didn't start rolling in 2012 until late in the game and it was because of depth. A&M has depth now, albeit young.

in 2012 jeremy hill wasn't really the starter yet

in 2013 he didn't get a carry after the first drive of the second half.

the game will come down to turnovers

But A&M has to stop the run to have a chance.
After that. Stop the got dayum wheel route.

Everybody seems to be overlooking the most important point: I and SafetySam will be there. We are not beatable in away games. Hell, I alone am 3-0 since the SEC move. SafetySam is the hammer that makes the whole question moot. Aggies win.

Donovan Wilson is waiting in the wings should Matthews screw up.

We've already had one true freshman supplant a senior returning starter at safety.

2. South Carolina is the more talented team and are playing at home. Provided they play sound football and solid defense they should win.

3. South Carolina is notorious for dropping a random game during the year to inferior teams. They also haven't looked good in the first game the last few times out. If A&M gets a turnover or two at key times they can win.

4. Fair prediction South Carolina 31, A&M 21

Very simply, the A&M front 7 vs the USC O-line/Mike Davis. I believe this is one game where TOP will dictate the outcome. I know I've seen Aggies say this does not matter. In some games, it does not. However, watch USC against Clemson in some recent games. Spurrier puts a HUGE priority on controlling the clock. With a young qb and an offense predicated on rhythm for A&M, it can have a profound effect on their efficiency.

Turnovers is what enabled USC to win those games not TOP. They won that battle handily...

Like the game against #5 Mizzou on the road last year? Or the one against #10 UCF on the road last year?

How are some SC folks stuck on this? You're talking to a school located in muggy SE Texas. We welcome the heat

For SC to win, they'll need to:
-win the turnover margin,
-grind clock, make every possession count, get points.
-keep Hill from racking up rushing yards,
-have some offensive plays they haven't run the past few years.

For aTm to win, they'll need to:
-finally find a defense,
-keep everyone out of jail b/w now an Thursday,
-the OL has to give Hill enough time to make decisions,
-load the box and stop MD28
-score with the same type of frequency as last year's team.

For the fans of both teams to win:
- cloud cover in the early evening,
- ample hydration before going into the game,
- free towel night
- no wand rule, and everybody sneaks in brown liquor.

Random question, are towels a tradition for y'all like they are for us Aggies? We have the 12th Man towels, but I've seen several crowd shots of the WBS crowd sporting them as well. Just curious as to the origins/prevalence of the tradition for y'all.

USC will have to fake some injuries to win, for sure.

They've given them out for years, but we also don't put them on a pedestal of being a tradition. However, we do recognize their vast importance, as they are one of the most useful things an interstellar hitchhiker can have.

We have the towels, we wave the towels during cheers, but there's no rule on their usage, so maybe we need more practice. If only we could figure out how to towel practice....

My bad. I didn't realize the Browns loaned Connor Shaw to SC this week.

Not that it matters but Roland is only 175 pounds so I am not sure what big and strong means to you. Maybe he is going to be a great player. His numbers in 2013 were okay, not impressive. Got a couple of young guys on the line and 1 of them in a new position.

First game of season. No Connor Shaw to direct. I'm just saying.

Spurrier 101:

use the run to set up the pass. so if we're having some success running out of the backfield, get ready for the long ball on 1st or 2nd down. and Dylan can throw it better than Conner. Conner's ability to improvise w/ his feet was valuable, but not necessarily core to Spurrier's Fun & Gun. SC's running game is not like Alabama that will beat you down into submission. Spurrier like to score and if things go well, we'll score more through the air than on the ground, even though the ground game is what will win it.

A&M needs to try to get SC into predictable passing downs to try to rattle Dylan. Coin toss may set the tone, because whomever win it will likely choose to receive and have the ability to score first. SC rarely scores first, but if they do, it may mean things are going well.

See, I think TOP led to those turnovers by not allowing Clemson's dynamic offense to get in any rhythm. It also kept USC's D fresh, important against high octane offenses. It's all interconnected.
