Look at your teams schedule and decide how to handle suspensions.

This MSU dilemma has produced 2 decidedly different view points in regards to playing certain players.
Do you play your best roster against the best teams and just let the chips fall in the other games?
or
Do you save your talent for the chance to win the most number of games?
Is there even a right or wrong answer?

Suspend them against shitty schools and save for the big games. IF you’re competitive for national recognition

If they got a suspension for 3 games I’d sit them for the next 3 games. No player is above the program.

The ol' Urban Meyer dilemma.

Yeah, I should have added the stipulations:
10 players, each missing 8 games.

I would suspend them for the first 8 games. Picking and choosing is setting a bad precedent. Now they are going to think they can do whatever they want and still play in the biggest games of the year. Moorehead will regret picking and choosing.

Now that's an angle I haven't heard. This argument has merit, unfortunatley

I'd sit them the last 8 games to make sure they don't get an extra year of eligibility after they transfer.

Tough spot for Moorhead to be in, but play them in the games where there’s the best chance of winning and getting yourselves to the best bowl game possible.

This has been my position, but it sucks any way you cut it

I don't think you guys should suspend your star players. You should expel them... Then we can vacuum them all up and straighten them out.
Do that in basketball too while you are at it.

If you can win without them you sit them those games. Play them in the games you know you can win but probably won’t (or might not) without them.
Sit them against the likes of Bama, LSU and anyone else you think likely beats you even at 100%.
LSU may be a special case because our starting LT was suspended 8 games, as were some other players. Not sure if they’ll suit up against State, so maybe you play them in that one?
ETA: Mix and match as needed to give yourselves the best chance of winning. Probably best to not sit all 10 except against maybe someone like Bama or some FCS team you can beat anyway.

No Reggie Perry.
We can talk about anyone else

I think they should have been suspended for the first 8 games of the season.
You shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose when you can enforce or withhold punishment.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if either strategery in the OP ends up biting them in the arse. Teams tend to play better as a unit, and they would probably be better served to get the eligible players up to speed on playing together rather than arbitrarily changing personnel based on the perceived quality of this week's opponent.
Completely different circumstances than players unavailable due to injury. Saying to the team, "eh, it's only Tennessee, yall can handle them without our best guys" or "we're not beating LSU no matter what, might as well let our suspended players sit this one out" doesn't seem like a good idea in either case.

Whatever Alabama does.

Agreed. Both situations seem like a quick way to lose the locker room.

Team vote is obviously the right answer here.

Right now I wouldn't trust them to not let a damn tutor vote for them

It depends who you are. If you're one of the Big 5, you can win easy games without your best players available. So you save them for the tough opponents. If you're State, you try to win the most games possible and sit them for the games you know you're going to lose, because even a Kansas State can give you a run for your money.

Go ahead and suspend them now.
We might not have players available that lost to San Jose State? Oh noes!
Actually let me change that. The players don't get suspended but our coaching staff does so our Graduate Assistants have to coach the game.
Chaviz gets a first half suspension for every game because it takes him a half to get going. After that he's pretty good.
