Prayers.for the friend too. It must be an awful feeling knowing you were helpless in trying to save him.

This is a huge loss for Auburn. Brother Chette affected so many lives in a positive way. Just a sad, sad day. His book, Hard Fighting Soldiers, is a good and inspiring read.

Rest in peace, Brother Chette.

Really, really hate to hear this. First, the tragedy with his son. Now, this. He & Lakeba both were very kind to our family over the years.

I met Bro Chette several years ago while volunteering with Fellowship of Christian Athletes when my son played high school ball.

Chette was a man who dedicated his life to ministering to young people, bringing them to Christ. He had a true servant's heart and a gentle & effective way of connecting with kids through sports.

Condolences to the Auburn Family.

I saw this in the news last night but they didn’t release the name of the victim. Just said there was a drowning at Lake Martin.

Tragic news. Chette was a great person and ambassador for AU. Prayers to the AU nation.

That sucks to go out like that.

We grew up near the William's family, he was from Winston Ga. Chette went to school with my youngest sister. I went to school with his older brother Greg. Pretty sure Greg also played at AU.

Big loss for AU and the community he grew up in, theres still a ton of his relatives there...

Also grew up with Hal Hamrick who also played at AU in the mid 60's...
