They always have been influenced by money … and I’m surprised the Texas schools need to be reminded of that fact

Nah. This happens to us all the time. We're rarely the highest bidder. There's a team in the conference that's not a football power that's done it a couple of times to us.

For weeks on end this kid has been saying it was between Texas and Ohio State. Many other recruits turned their heads to other schools with this knowledge. I blame first of all a bad agent for this kid, ad secondly both schools for making assumptions on his choice of schools .
I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th.

The transfer portal is a moore viable option to get linemen going forward. Then you get a (in most cases) partially developed experienced player. What's being paid for linemen right now is stupid money.

The portal is a better option for the smart schools.

Don’t detect many lies there, although I’d live in Lubbock for $2m. Kid is possibly focused on money and he should be, good for him don’t blame him one bit. Too many crying horn fans right now that need a taste of getting money whipped. It’s July also so no idea why these babies are crying. This is embarrassing for the few fans that are whining about this

Good on you. Although Lubbock smells like manure, so it might take $3 mil

Also, our message board is clearly full of idiots who don’t get we aren’t the only university with money or that it could actually be a blessing to not have to over pay for a kid depending on our own NIL budget, how we want to manage our current players NIL budget, etc. Not making a single excuse kid chose his future and can’t blame him one bit but it could be a blessing.

This. I would’ve loved to have the kid if he wanted to be a Horn but he chose what’s best for his family (or his family chose what’s best for his family). Regardless, the difference isn’t going to be who has the biggest NIL roster but who has the best team culture and ability to develop talent.

Okay let me explain it to you so you can understand.

You said we'd be doing the same if it was Tech.

1. It's rare that this has ever happened to Texas because Texas is normally the highest bidder.

2. They are not used to it so it caught them off guard and they are crying.

3. This has happened to us so much in the past we almost expect it.

4. That's why I say we wouldn't do this if it were Tech.

And I'll add, to many in our fabase Tech is our most hated rival. No Texas fan would name Texas Tech as their most hated rival. So the comparison isn't even a good one.

Those are our idiot fans, every team has them. The more successful a team is, the more they have. You can understand this Georgia fan.
For some additional insight on this, Texas Tech is also known as Sand aggy in Texas. They can usually do better with their limited funds than aggy. Texas, OTOH, will not be drawn into a bidding war for a player at this time, to early. They will wait until later for the poaching. Besides, Texas is stacked with OL-men.

Good for the kid. We would all take 5.1 million guaranteed for 3 years.

FYI, the kid Tech signed was 2nd team all-district, behind the o-lineman Texas signed the same day.

Kids are going to take the biggest check in exchange for immediate playing time. Why sit for less money when they can play?

I can’t say I blame them.

Schools that have had to forfeit games in the SEC in the last 20 years or so:

Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss

Poors for sure.

This is a good reminder that even the richest of the rich will not always win every player. Texas sells “set for life”, Lambo leases, Austin arguably the best college city, and occasionally outspends everyone. But, this is clearly all about money decision and the kid did what’s in his best interest. Texas didn’t want to throw $5 million at him. Nothing wrong with that. I can’t blame them based on what little tape I’ve seen of him. Move on.

Not to worry. The horn PR machine has already characterized him as a “project” and not worth the risk ($$$). Same ‘ol’ same ‘ol.

Shorthorns continue to "oversell" your product. Kids are still going to the football machines, which, historically, they always have. You might want to leave a little room for the idea that players go to teams they want to play for.

It's a great comparison because Georgia considers itself superior to Ga Tech like Texas does to Tx Tech. The hatred is there from both schools. No Jawja fan under 70 considers Tech their main rival.

And I think it is cute that you are acting like Georgia has been achieving all these great recruiting classes without paying just because your alumni are a little more buttoned down than Texas'.
