Gator fans wanted Muschamp, McElwain and Mullen when they were (all three) hired. That hasn't necessarily been the case with any of Tanner's hires.

I didn't want any of them. But I was fine with the hires at the time. I wanted Scott Frost or Chip Kelly instead of Mullen, so that tells you what I know. Actually Kelly turned it around a little this season, so he may work out, but Frost was my first choice.

He probably would have done better at Florida than at Nebraska. Nebraska will never be what they once was.

It’s a political position at this point. I agree.

It’s how many dicks can they suck and how much money can they bring in. The coaches do the leg work.

Florida was an average to below average program for forever, until the 90s or so. Then they hit gold with Spurrier, Meyer, Donovan, and maybe a couple of others I don't feel like remembering. They had a good run for a couple of decades. Seems they're just regressing back to the mean.

A competent AD would’ve seen through the makeup and lipstick.

Jeremy was more than competent. He was well-connected and thoroughly dedicated to being, at the time imho, the premier AD in the league. Mike McGee always raved about Jeremy and the two talked often and collaborated on a lot of things when dealing with Mr Kramer, et al.

You seriously cannot refer-to Jeremy Foley, for landing muschamp, as incompetent.

However, we Gamecock fans most certainly can, and do, consider Tanner to-be incompetent for hiring muschamp for obvious reasons. And I fell for it ... I though muschamp might actually be a good fit here after meeting him. The guy was engaging and he said all the right things. But, as a leader, a manager, in the locker room ... he was destructive af. And his true character came-out in both cases, UF and SC, when once he failed he sought to seek petty revenge and blame his failure on everyone but himself. He's a coordinator, not an HC.

Scott Stricklin ... it's yet to be seen. An AD usually gets two football hires before judgement is passed.

Tanner has made zero good hires in any sports. He followed Mike McGee and Eric Hyman, two of the best but ... Tanner has failed on every level. Even baseball. We used-to cry on LSU's fans shoulders because they went through something similar with Skip Bertman. But LSU was smart enough to make a change. SC needs to can Tanner soon.

Stricklin hasn't had enough time just yet ... but Sasse may give him the boot just to get his own man in there.

That's probably true. Also true is that he actually did his best coaching job at State. Too bad it didn't work out for the long run and he didn't love us.

The argument would be Greg Byrne as opposed to Strick.

Byrne was OK but had his eye on the bigger prize the day he stepped on campus.

Byrne and Stricklin elevated our athletics as a whole to a better level.

Football, baseball, women’s basketball, tennis, softball all improved. Men’s BB took awhile

you, I or a dead fish would have been an improvement over the years of neglect Re: Templeton. Fans were thirsty for anything. It was there for the asking. Does Stricklin still have to sneak in and out to visit in laws?

Has your liberal daughter had the nerve to ask for money lately?
