Man, that's worse than LSU to Pasadena in 2006.

One more win (against a team we already defeated) and we will be going to Arizona. Tickets would be cheaper and more available now than in a week from now.....and last time I checked, plane tickets are refundable. So what's so odd about this situation?

I remember the TN fans who had already booked flights to Cali and were walking around Atlanta with orange roses before the SEC Championship game. We were in line behind some Vol fans talking about what hotel they had booked, etc. The tigers spoiled those plans. I'm hoping the Gamecocks do the same to the cheaters this year.

It would be fun to see the Arkansas meltdown as well.

Two women at my wife's work reserved their hotel rooms in Glendale last year. They are Bama fans.

Is my memory fading or had TN beaten LSU earlier in the season that year we knocked them out of the NC game?

This is a non-issue. Fans do this all the time and expenses are refundable/cancelable/sellable. Don't buy now, don't get tickets at all.

fans do this yearly. what's funny?

Wonder if you started the same thread earlier in the year when bama fans bought SECCG tickets before the season started.

Well its clear you don't travel all too much because 95% of fares available by airlines are non-refundable and incur at minimum $150 change fees plus the fare difference to the new location.
Not to mention, Airlines will add service as demand for a certain time frame increases to accommodate the additional travel which means prices might actually be CHEAPER next week.
Add into the fact that "anything can happen" scenario and its just plain stupid to blow $600 for a family of four just to book your seats early.

From talking to a lot of bama fans, air fare went up dramatically after bama won the sec championship game.
It's the defintion of a gamble, buy cheap and get burned if we lose to USC
But i digress with logic...back to your typical anything auburn or its fans do is wrong and "lol at them."

This actually happens a lot.
I know a girl (Bama fan) still trying to get rid of a hotel room in ATL for this weekend.
We had our flight booked by this time last year.
My brother did the DIBZ thing last year where you basically bid on a chance to buy national championship tickets. I think you had to choose a team and it was a certain amount based on the team. If your team ends up in the BCSNC then you have the rights to the tickets.
I think he paid 80 bucks and then had to pay face value for the ticket. He ended up saving around 200 dollars.

GO South Carolina. I hope the gamecocks play big.

you kind of have to buy them (or at least reserve them) about now if you want to have any hope of getting a flight.

Nah. You'll be able to find flights there they'll just be expensive for one and hassle.
I had a couple of buddies decided to go to Cali last year about 2 weeks out from the NC game. I think they had 4 changeovers on the way out there. It was also the first flight for one of them and they ended up taking a prop plane at one point of the trip.

You either a) don't fly much or b) checked with the wrong place last time

Now THAT'S ridiculous! I am a die hard Alabama fan and would never consider do something like that.

I would ... I'd just make sure that it's got a good cancellation policy. In 2007 I had 3 rooms booked before the NCG ... worked out for us but I would have been able to cancel within 48 hours or so of arrival.
eta: I'd never book a flight though unless I was resolved to going to the bowl even if my team didn't.
