Has anybody ever wondered why insurance companies call natural disasters like tornadoes acts of God? That's always seemed kind of strange to me. I'm sure God as I understand Him didn't deliberately inflict those tornadoes on Arkansas or any other place.

Anyway, I will pray for the people of Little Rock and others in Arkansas and elsewhere that were devastated by tornadoes today.

Act of God is a legal term. It essentially means an occurance beyond the control or reasonable forseeability of either party to a contract. Something that's nobodies fault, but still needs to be accountent for in the agreement in case it happens.

So insurance co's call it an Act of God because it falls under the "Act of God" clause in the policy documentation. And they disburse payment in accordance with whatever is laid out in that clause.

I was in town for an appointment. We ate at David’s Burgers then left 30 minutes before it hit. We stopped near Conway to listen to it on the radio.

I hope you and your family are ok.

I lived there for the better part of a decade and got my degree from UALR. I’m heart broken for everyone in Arkansas that was effected by the tornado.

There were also fake Go Fund Me's up within minutes of these tornado reports, showing pics of tornadoes in years past in other states, and idiots sending money to the Go Fund me scammers

The house my parents built in the lower half is made of two feet of solid concrete and can easily withstand a tornado. The second level isn't but the roof is held by straps that is hurricane resistant.

The lower half is a basement.

This destruction is crazy…

This is why you see those tornado threads on the OT talking about this stuff ahead of time. These “bad days” in the spring are horrific.

And once you’ve experienced a bad one you don’t ever want to let your guard down again.

People think of tornadoes as some little twister knocking down a trailer or blowing a cow into the air, but a bad tornado in the south does stuff like what happened to Little Rock and God help everyone who was impacted from IA to AL yesterday.

Went from lunchtime to after midnight and at one point there were 20 tornado warnings at the same time. The national radar looked like a solid red line from IA south down the Mississippi to AR from all the tornado warnings.

Just horrible.
