I had forgotten Rogers played on the Redskins team that blew out Denver in the Superbowl. He was a very good RB, no doubt about it.

No but there isn't another sec team as proud of a player whose team went 8-4 as USC is of George Rogers

Alabama has had three Superbowl MVPs but alas, none won the Heisman. But all three are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Bart Starr (two-time SB MVP), Joe Namath, and Kenny Stabler.

Disagree.

Did Peyton Manning deserve the Heisman? Sure. But so did Charles Woodson.

When the Mets win the World Series, does Florida get to include Tebow on this list?

Technically, Herschel Walker is responsible for 3 Super Bowl Championships in Dallas:

prior to Spurrier...8-4 was a phenomenal year for SC. 1979 was the 1st time they ever even won 8 games in a season. Primarily due to Rogers running the ball. He was a helluva back and their only Heisman winner.

They should be proud.

Ummmmmmm ... unless someone mentions Darren McFadden to Arkansas fans. His famously (overhyped and regularly relived) senior year, his Hogs went 8-4 and he didn't win a Heisman (although imho he should have). 8-5 if you count the loss to Mizzou in the Cotton Bowl.

See how this works?

Or would you rather do Matt Jones?

He went 8-4 regular season in what, '03 maybe, '04? Although he did pick up a 9th win over Mizzou in the Independence Bowl was it? 12 game regular season.

Interestingly enough Roger's '79 8-4 team lost their bowl to Mizzou in BHam.

Roger's '80 8-4 team lost their bowl to an 11-1 and #3 ranked (#1 in 3 polls) Dan Marino and Hugh Green led Pittsburgh Panthers team in the Gator Bowl.

See how this works?

Dumb arse.

Also interesting is that Pittsburgh team was coached by Jackie Sherrill.

True ... and he had a great team that year. Can't remember who their only loss was to ... FSU maybe?

They were the best team in the country that year. They outclassed us in the Gator Bowl. I was there and, while Rogers was heroic, Pittsburgh was just a beast of a team.

I was there. It was a painful night.
