I was about to say...Cam Newton had one of the nastiest runs, against LSU, on a broken play. There are more than several broken play QB's that have had success in the SEC.

Well Riley just signed the best offensive class in history and Haselwood is announcing his commitment to OU in a matter of days. That gives OU the top 3 WRs in 2019 and the top QB. He’s had 3 top 10 classes in a row and 2019 will be top 5. Once he hires a competent defensive coach Oklahoma will be on bamas level. You all know it. Easy to see.

Easy to see? You understand it's easier to score, than to defend at a high level? An offensive player chooses where he wants to run, defensive players have no choice but to make the play. You can't just strike a match and a defense overnight. A good coaching hire is not "all" they OU needs.

I happened to look at the stats... and what I saw surprised me. Both Alabama and Oklahoma punted twice. Seems hard to believe. If you don't count the 30 seconds at the end of the half, the Sooners scored on 6 consecutive drives.

I would say that is a good offense.

I mean he is a good offensive mind for sure. But until he gets a defense he won't win a title. He is very young though.

One last thing, Riley should have taken the ball first to start the game; the Sooners looked rattled after the quick touchdown.

Thank you for your honesty and pointing this out so I didn't have to post it.

Bama has been above average on offense for a while now. 2 heisman winners, a 2nd, and a 3rd place finish in the saban era

Not including Tua

Alabama has had a Top 10 efficiency offense basically since 2012. This year Alabama went from a really, really good offense to an elite co-best in the country offense.

Yea no doubt - greatest dynasty of modern college football and with a decent DC and a few good recruits you guys will be right there neck and neck with us.

Can't argue with that.

Tua threw 7 yard slant routes all night that any 8th grader could hit because our dipshit coaches kept our CBs playing outside leverage all night long instead of adjusting. Any retard could hit those throws, clown.

Really? Why didn't Murray do it?

They did well putting their athletes in good enough space to compete. Alabama, though, has elite speed all over the field. So, I can agree that it wasn't the worst defensive showing, but they need some help with their personnel.

They didn't have a whole lot of massive busts, but the field was so wide open on everything. I can't remember a single straight forward run play that didn't get at least 2 yards.

It was about what was expected and the stats said - their defense was the equivalent of Arkansas or Tennessee. We just decided the best offensive gameplan after going up 28-0 was to pull back the throttle and bleed clock (while still moving the ball).

I'd bet 70% of our plays were either RPOs/Counters/Power plays. We ran a few play action rolls and then a couple wildcats and the Jalen plays. But for the most part we were doing simple stuff (which is probably why they didn't have many busts).

Good point, it did look like the coaches wanted a small lead; and then to simply win one on ones. Which is football, on any given day, but it becomes a matter of execution. Bama being more physical, and disciplined won them the game. I've never understood the whole "let off the throttle to limit mistakes", or at least that's how it comes across.

I concur. If you know you offense is your strong side, why not capture momentum first? Silly not to.

Yea - and I don't think we really "let off the gas". We just decided to play a style of offense that took more time and would totally wear them out by the 4th quarter. And it was a style that we knew we could be successful with.

And we kind of did the same defensively - outside of the long TD pass we made them take 4-6 minutes on every drive. They had to go to 3rd or 4th down on almost all of them (multiple times on most). Those 2 factors basically made it impossible for them to catch us unless we turned the ball over or they got onside kicks.

The whole concept of time and defense changed after Bama went up 28 to zip. Saban made changes to make sure no one got behind the defense. Keep everything in front. The announcers taljed about an OU drive of 14 plays. I laughed as that is just exactly what Saban wanted, they would never touch the ball enough to catch up. The game was over 20 minutes in!!!

Murray cannot see over the line to throw slants from the pocket. His game is improvisation outside of the pocket

Yea - at that point, and once we held them to a FG on their 1st possession of the 2nd half, the only way we were losing was turnovers or just losing our minds.

We kept everything in front, made them go 3-4 downs every set of downs and by the time we answered their TD to go up 38-20 it was over unless they stole 2 possessions.
