Not sure it is a bombshell. He has been linked to UF rumors for more than a week.
Although, I think his contract is running out in 2026. It could easily be his agent trying to motivate USC for an early extension. Trace Armstrong (former UF player) is his agent and is also the agent for Brian Kelly and Nuss. Not that it matters, but it does seem interesting that there is a connection of sorts with him and the two key jobs he is being associated with.

Only because Bob Stoops forced him to tell the team he was leaving for USC. The snake was just gonna jet out in the middle of the night.
I heard it was DeMarco Murray who called him out.

Riley Is coming to LSU. Suck on that a while!
Im not going to pretend to have sources, but Ive talked to multiple people that have said the same story.
Riley was never coming to LSU, he used us to get more money out of USC.
He went as far as to let LSU schedule a press conference announcing him as the coach on saturday morning. Friday night USC had their press conference announcing him as the coach. Thats why he will never be a LSU coach. That bridge has been burnt to a crisp.

Could be. Then USC hires Ron Rivera from Cal.

Riley can’t even make the playoff in the big ten with excellent recruiting grounds in his back yard. He ain’t doing shite at LSU

Josh Pate is full of shite.
There isn't one single talking head that knows shite about frick when it comes to coaching searches. They just throw a bunch of common names out there to get clicks.

Stinkin Lincoln came out the night before he took the USC job and made a huge deal saying I will not be the next head coach at LSU lol. What a tool

Whoa… I had not heard that before.
Scheduled a press conference that he was never going to attend?

Not a chance. He's finally got the Trojans moving in the right direction and he has a $17 million dollar home overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You think he wants to trade that to live in Cancer Alley overlooking the Mississippi?

I dont think he was attending it either way, it was just an announcement.
Of course this is all like 5th hand information, just the same story from a few people. It could all be bs, but they all say LSU was ready to make an announcement on Saturday morning.

It's wild that people here still think Josh Pate has any idea about anything.

Lincoln Riley ran from SEC competition once. I can't imagine him coming to the SEC now. That said...now that Saban is gone it is a possibility. Can't imagine why LSU would want him, though. He couldn't do anything at USCw with all of their money, history, recruiting advantages and support from boosters.

That is because it didn't happen...
We know this because Riley coached Oklahoma in a game on Saturday night... therefore USC couldn't have had a press conference lined up for Friday night.
And I guess if there was an LSU press conference set up for that Saturday morning... He would have had to be in Baton Rouge on Saturday morning to announce that he was head coach and then I guess fly back to Stillwater to coach OU in their game that night.
Or I guess he could have just stayed in Baton Rouge and OU could have named an interim coach that afternoon.
As was stated before... Riley lost the game to OSU on a Saturday night. Denied he was taking the LSU job in that post game press conference.
USC announced he was the head coach on Sunday morning... the next day.

If TBOW makes another move to run away from competition again it won't be to LSU or the SEC.
He will return to the BIG XII and his home state under the guise of "getting back to his roots" and "going home".
Think Baylor.

I'll eat my crow on this one. I've admitted multiple times on the site that my source was flat wrong OR Riley really did give LSU every single indication that he was our guy and bailed at the last minute. My source at the time was one of the biggest TAF donors, rubs elbows with and has free access to every single higher up at LSU and routinely has dinner with multiple leaders of the athletic department, so I had zero reason to not trust what he told me. I think Riley fricked LSU and as kengal2 said, he burned a bridge with LSU that will never be rebuilt.

Gotcha. I doubt LSU goes down that road again…

Days could be messed up, it was 5 years ago and like 5th hand information.
