Either the rumors that he and the administration loathe one another are true or LR really didn't want to coach in the SEC.
Personally, if I was a coach, Los Angeles would be very low on my list of places to go. Its a lousy sports town unless you are the the Lakers. UCLA and USC have to beg fans to show up for games in any sport and only succeed if that team is winning national championships every year. NFL teams go to LA to spend a decade or so of losing money.
Ennui is a powerful enemy to a coach. Even when Coach O was in full on crash mode he still had his defenders at LSU. At USC nobody will left a finger to keep you or care when you get the axe.

A friend of mine teaches at Norman North High School and one of her students is the son of a coach. According to this son, it was an ugly meeting that lasted only a few minutes. Players and coaches were yelling at him. Bob was playing golf at the time when he got a phone call about it and showed up to the meeting after Riley had already left. I guess he was pissed.

WHen Tucker got $10 million a year for a crap Mich St team that is dead last in pass defense in all of CFB the salary bar for coaches went to the Moon....
Riley is getting $15 million a year for 10 years guaranteed plus plus....At USC
TBH Riley was exposed this year..... Riley trended down from playing a close game in the playoff his first year with Stoops team to not even making the conference championship game this year with an all Riley team.....Riley’s offense this year was total crap.....
The PAC is very weak, LA has lots of recruits..... we had 3, 5 star recruits from LA committed for 2023..... they plus others will look hard at going to USC now.....

Come on. I got a msu bulldog fan who loves living here in Oklahoma relocating from Mississippi. To each his own. I loved Mississippi and Alabama when I went and visited and I also lived in California working in the oil field and I would choose Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma or Texas over that place. Just MO though.
