DG left to be closer to his family. Not because he wasnt communicated with or run off.

That's one story anyway. There's definitely other perspectives floating around, and no I didn't make it up.

No biggie either way. It's just gossip I heard from OU podcasts as well as that The Athletic article that featured Gabriel.

I don't think giving DG the opportunity to play for a championship contender can be considered "running him off".

If Jackson Arnold didn't exist, how do you think this would have played out?

All spring and summer, all we heard from the Sooner fanbase was how they were going to rule the SEC.

Show me any Sooner fan who said we was going to rule the sec ….. you won’t because your mouth is bigger than your brain.

Theyll be fine over the long haul like TN and GA. Whether BV is their guy, is more the immediate issue imo.

OU isn't Nebraska, but they are going to find that it's a lard harder to stay in the top echelon of their current conference than what they are used to historically. This year could be a blip, or they could have an extended run of mediocrity. Too soon to tell, but even if they are going through a trough, they will make the necessary adjustments in order to rebound at some point.

I was doing some deep analysis of the Sooner program and after careful deliberation and study I'm pretty sure I've sifted out the core problem. It's football.

Nil and portal will keep any one program from dominating. You don't have to agree but you'll find that out soon enough.

You're right, I don't agree.

Put 10 people on an island and give them each a $1 dollar bill. After a year, one person will have all the money.

The point of the parable is - NIL won't work indefinitely. Why do you think the NFL has salary caps?

But while NIL is in play, there is no reason why Texas couldn't achieve Saban status. I'm not calling it, I'm just saying the landscape is right for it.

Honestly if I didn't see the parity I'm seeing this year, which I assume has a lot to do with the portal, I might agree with you.
Portal appears to be killing depth more than anything and the seasons just got a lot longer for the 12 teams that make the playoff. I don't see it but time will tell.
Lot of teams in the SEC willing to spend big money to grab players. If any program can pull off a dynasty in this era that's pretty impressive.

DG said he wanted to get a NFL draft grade, when that came back UDFA DG expanded his looking around to NIL opportunities. Phil Knight called up with $$$millions and DG said he was leaving Oklahoma…….

NO one ran DG off he decided to leave

The current Sooners have a good defense a solid special teams, and a very ineffective offense.

Both QBs are very good. The OL is terrible. The top 6 WR are out with injury. The run game is mediocre. The offensive schemes and play calling are bad,

Having said all the above i expect the Sooners to rebound this week and finish strong. IMO Sooners prioritized player development over winning the RRSO. I would not have done that but it was evident. Sooners played everyone. Texass played only starters till the final whistle even on defense when way ahead at the very end.

Let’s see what happens this Saturday and revisit this thread.

Sooners are going to be down for several years like the 90s, but then they'll be back to successful regular seasons.

I’ll be honest. I had us going 9-3 with losses to Texas, Alabama, LSU. But I didn’t think of how depleted we would be at WR and OL, and inept at QB. South Carolina is a must win. Otherwise, other than Maine, I don’t see another win.

Anyways, I’m still happy with the move. Down seasons happen. Texas endured it for years after their 2009 BCSNCG run. Texas is now on top while OU figures out how to stay somewhat afloat.

I know this kinda stuff gets weird on a message board, but the rumor is the team really didn't like Arnold. Huge divide. Supposedly acted like he walked on water.

None of this is true.

And boy, running off Gabriel looks pretty dumb right now.

This isn't true either, no matter how many times you repeat it to yourself.
