Let's talk about Cam Thomas

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what's so great about him. I mean sure, he looked pretty good against Nicholls and SIU Edwardsville, but not so great against SEC opponents.
He's a nice little player for a freshman, but it just seems to me like he's a high volume inefficient shooter. He also flops a lot on stupid shots to get to the FT line. Reminds me of Trae Young, but a much worse shooter, passer, and rebounder.
SEC Stats
FG: 37.3%
3 PT: 23.6%
REB: 2.6
AST: 1.2
Not to mention the fact that KenPom says LSU has had the easiest conference schedule to this point. In fact, if you only include his stats vs KenPom top 100 teams, the dude just flat out sucks.
Stats against KenPom top 100
FG: 34.7%
3 PT: 17.6%
AST: 0.9
REB: 2.4
Are we really having SEC POTY discussions about a guy who shoots 17% from 3 against any team worth a shite? He averages more turnovers than assists, and almost more TOs than rebounds.
I'd go ahead and wager that there are 30 players in the SEC that could put up Thomas's numbers if they wanted to. All it takes is a guy who's a good FT shooter with coach and a team that is ok with them forcing up shots 30 times a game.

LSU would have lost to Aggy the other night if Aggy had an offense that could punch its way out of a wet paper bag. In the final 4 or 5 minutes of that game he was throwing up yolo 3 after yolo 3 from well beyond the line with a defender on his hip. It was unreal. He didn't make a single one of them but got to the line once because he kicked his legs out to draw contact.

And Tuesday night was one of his good games.

This is exactly what I mean. He does it all the time. It's hilarious when he doesn't get the call and ends up airballing a shitty 3 because he was too busy trying to get a call than focusing on making the basket

Ever since he had the injury a couple weeks ago he's been off from his jumpers, still able to get to rim/FT line well, but his jumpers have just been missing by way more than they have prior to that. I mean he's air mailed quite a few jumpers and that never happened prior to him rolling his ankle

Not sure why I am responding to you with a serious reply, but here it goes.
Prior to his injury, he was the best shooter in the league. He is also good at drawing fouls and was like 95% from the line. Had he continued to play like that, he would have been a 1 and done.

Before his injury against KenPom Top 100 teams
FG: 35.4%
3 PT: 17.3%
So, no not much difference.
The truth is he played decent against shitty teams and is god awful against good teams.

Seems strange that a Georgia fan would be randomly focused on an LSU player, but more power to you.

Can’t discuss facts with LSU fans... I mean they had the best player in college basketball and couldn’t make the Tourne...
Wait
Wait

Which LSU fans deny that? You do realize that occurred under a different coach and LSU fans wanted him fired, right?

You're basically leaving out most teams there and creating a pretty tiny sample size, he was 33% from 3 prior to injury and that's just 3's, he takes a lot of 2 jumpers as well. He is like 18% from 3 since the injury, he clearly hasn't bee nthe same coming from someone who has watched every game of his. He takes a very high jumper exploding off his feet and a rolled ankle has been tough for him to fight through with that. 33% to 18% is a huge drop just from 3.
It doesnt matter how close he's guarded, he can hit 3's regardless of who the opponent was. The ankle injury has really put a damper in his jumper game.

Might've seemed that way against Sam Houston State, but no. Just no.
Here are the top 100 teams he played before his injury.
vs #24 Florida: 3/10 3 PT FG
vs #98 Georgia: 1/8 3 PT FG
vs #99 LA Tech: 0/3 3 PT FG
vs #62 Ole Miss: 0/1 3 PT FG
So, no, he was definitely not the best shooter in the SEC at any point this season.

Every game I’ve watched he’s ended reaching a threshold where’s hurting his team more than helping by continue to ball hog. But people see lots of points and pleasure themselves to it.

Yes. I am leaving out his games against Nicholls, Sam Houston State, Southeaastern Louisiana. True indicators of how good a player is.

Everyone looks like worldbeaters before you reach the conference schedule.
