All those teams lost a great bit of playmakers
What playmakers did UGA lose? Boykin and Orson Charles? We return 9 (really 10) defensive starters. We lose a couple of O-line guys who will likely succeed in the NFL BUT they were not great @ UGA. Between playing out of position and not having a solid coach until last season, I don't envision a huge drop off at O-line. Just still a huge depth issue, which is no different from last year.
Also what playmakers is LSU losing? Serious question so if you say Jordan Jefferson I will likely do a spit take.
Arky loses some WRs but gets a solid RB back right? Petrino just reloads receivers. Don't like it but gotta give him that.
Bama certainly loses some playmakers but they saw improved QB play from AJ. That is a scary proposition. Add in top tier recruits from the past few seasons and i wouldn't expect a big dropoff.
Meanwhile. Auburn gets new OC, new DC, and loses a top tier RB. Not sure how you feel they will go 10-2 or better (as many have suggested)
I think they go 8-4 but a 7-5 is not out of the question. Clemson, Miss St, and Vandy are all legitimate potential losses. (Unlikely but more likely than you going 10-2 or better IMO)

You just explained it.

Dear God. Mo Claiborne, Brandon Taylor, etc. I don't think we beat them, but yes they lose playmakers.

Yes, pretty much their best WRs. It's yet to be seen if Knile Davis can stay healthy or be 100% coming off his injury, though I do think he's a good back. They also lost a bunch on defense.

And I've said I expect this to be a loss.

Upgrade at DC (by a mile), and this year we will be better on offense. Malzahn didn't get it done his last year here. At all.

No shite. It's been said. By me.

LINK to me saying this? Don't put words in my mouth.

I think they go 8-4
Possible, but we won't go 7-5, IMO. 9-3 is my prediction.

losses to
Bama
LSU
Arky
Georgia
Bama wins the west and takes the crystal

8-4 or 9-3, seems pretty reasonable.
Would surprise me if we actually lost to Clemson and beat one of Georgia or Arkansas...

Florida is a huge ?? at this point.
The defense is going to be really good, the depth is a bit better this year, especially on defense, and they are in the 2nd year of the muschamp era.
All that being said, unless Florida finds something on offense - it'll be another long year.
They do return 4 starters on the OL and a lot of players on offense that have seen time, but no one is very good right now.
I'll say 7-8 wins, but I think more is possible if they find a QB.

I see 9-3 being just as possible for you as 7-5. 8-4 the likely outcome with some close losses/wins accounting for the difference. I didn't keep up with who posted 10-2 just that it seemed to be the consensus among Auburn posters. Sorry I used the "collective you" rather than you personally.
And you said "a great deal of playmakers":
UGA: 2 + average O-line doesn't equal a great deal
LSU: you listed 2... probably more but its not like their backups weren't getting playing time. They still return a shitload of talent.
Ark: I agreed with you here... losing solid WRs but Petrino's scheme allows WRs to shine so I don't expect that loss to hurt as much as it would at most schools.
So if you assume LSU/Bama are losses what is your other lone loss to reach 9-3? Clemson, Vandy, and Miss St. are all on the rise. Winnable but difficult games. Especially Clemson early, as their tendency is to disappoint late and overperform early. Are you counting the UGA game as a win?
Assuming that because your new DC is better that your defense will be better in year 1 is pretty bold. He was in decline at UGA, failed at GSU, and didn't really produce great results in the NFL. New day, new team and I do think he was a GREAT hire for Auburn but I wouldn't expect him to work miracles in one off season with the players who are already there.
How will you be better on offense? New OC that is largely unproven. He's responsible for Tim Tebow's QB play? I like the guy but not a ringing endorsement on his ability to develop a QB. I did hear that he's Tom Brady's off season coach though? Never verified but if so that IS an endorsement. Looks like he at least understands how to use the talent you have effectively. (ie. Temple... shite at QB and WR. talent at RB. game plan = run.alot.) Either way complete overhaul of coordinators will likely have some growing pains.
Not saying 9-3 isn't possible... shite anything's possible. Just that your definitive statement of "we won't go 7-5" is nearly as outlandish as the guy saying 14-0.

12 wins. Because it's 2012 and we had 11 in 2011.
