Alabama has a very long history with Auburn and Tennessee. There has been much bitterness and hate at times for various reasons, and there are therefore longstanding grudges. Alabama and LSU have had some MAJOR games over the past 20 years, but the hate, bitterness, and grudges aren't the same. We grudgingly respect LSU, we don't actually hate them. Thus, not a true rivalry.

As someone who tries most of the time to be a rationale LSU fan, and take the emotions of a fan out the equation, this is in my view 100% a solid take.
LSU in my view needs to to forget about rivals. My father and his family and friend are all in their 80's and for them it was Tulane (they were charter member of SEC) and Ole Miss in the Vaught/Dietzel then Mac eras. Who is LSU's rival today that every fan of every generation views as a rival, that varies by generation.
So my take for LSU fans lets just sit back in our corner of the world, see what Lane can do with the all the resources, fan support and in-state LA recruiting and portal, he has been better in the Portal these last 3 years than anyone and his only comp might be George Steinbrenner in the 1970's acquiring free agents for the Yankees. If Lane gets an NC here in next years, every team in the SEC will be taking some shots at LSU.
Anyway, here is for a good game between UGA and Bama later today.
