But it’s not a vegetable…..

That would be like saying state flower of Florida is a dolphin.

Yeah, we call those people idiots.

BBQ is: Pork, sausage, chicken, brisket, ribs...

Smoked, or slathered in some type of sauce while cooked on a pit... or shortly after removing it

Fight me

Cooking a perfect brisket is far more difficult than a pork shoulder or butt.

Personally, I will take any and all on my plate if done well.

No we think the cow is bbq, and judge those who call pig bbq

Man, take you a couple big thick slices of brisket, stack some pulled pork between 'em with a little sauce for good measure, and bite into that sumbitch like the finest got dang BBQ sammich on God's green Earth, which it is.

Correct. It's a genus:

Barbacoas Delisius

Included species': cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, & sheep.

Honestly, for the sake of the entire southern US this thread should be deleted. This isn’t a good look on the education system In Oklahoma or what seems to be the majority of the states in the SEC.

As far as governments are concerned, tomatoes have been vegetables for well over a century.

And in case you haven't heard, bees are now fish.

If eating my veggies means lots of watermelon, I'm pretty ok with that.

The state legislature declared it the honorary state vegetable over the contuining "fruit or vegetable" debate over watermelons. Watermelons are a member of the gourd/cucumber family so they declared it a vegetable.

The official state fruit of Oklahoma is the Strawberry. We grow both.

Calling a big red-fleshed gourd a watermelon?

That's some quality branding right there.

Can you imagine of the lazy asses who named the "blood orange" were working that day?

We'd be calling watermelons Blood Pumpkins.
