Possibly, or it would have been detrimental to the Union early on, with them trying to invade deep in enemy territory while the South still had numbers, fresh supplies and high morale.
Early on they lost some victories, but in the process spread the southerners thin, cut off supply routes and slowly starved us to death and then came in with the overwhelming numbers and aggressive Shermans march for the final blows.

I heard we let 'em win because in the middle of it all, in spite of the Monroe Doctrine, France was sneaking up from behind and pulling a fast one in Mexico with Maximilian. Not showing our hand, we quickly smelled the coffee and realized we'd be better off staying with the Yankees instead of becoming an appendage of Mexico. It wasn't sittin' too well with the Texans either and we knew someone was gonna have to rebuild a lot of shite and we weren't that keen on adobe buildings.
