Last year he was running straight over those linebackers. Hopefully he realized that's not going to happen like that at this level.
Actually, he ran around them his entire high school career and I think that might be part of the problem. I think the staff told him they wanted him to be more physical and he tried to be overly physical rather than using his speed and quickness. I think he was trying to live up to the expectations during his first game and it affected him. If you watch his tape he displays great vision, so I doubt that's changed, he's just going to have to adjust to the speed of the game. Holes close and open a lot quicker in college than in high school. He'll be fine. He's got a great work ethic and is one of the most physically gifted RB's to come out of high school in a long time.

Should we compare Buffalo in Athens and Wisconsin at a neutral site game?
Wisconsin was 57th against the rush last year and lost all front 7 on their defense. They then lost both nose tackles in the game...
Just saying, that clown of an LSU fan said don't judge him...Yet, you all hve been judging him for MONTHS...Now, he has an NCAA game under his belt and we analyze that and you think NOW its bad to judge....haha....classic corndoggin
ETA: Buffalo was 56th that year against the rush FYI

he is still a freshmen
Alex Collins had some of the best vision in the country as a freshman. He'd always go down at first contact yet routinely busted 15 yard runs.

We'll see a lot more of this kind of aggression/vision as Fournette settles down and Jennings becomes more of a 1st down passing threat. He likely would have picked up 50-100 yards receiving if it weren't for two terribly thrown screens
He will be exceptional

The reactions from all over the place after the 1st week have been insane.

And how many carries did he have after those injuries happened? Hilliard got the lions share of carries in the second half. Anybody trying to write off Fournette after the first game is a complete idiot.

I hope that this is completely wrong.

They also played some quality opponents in the MAC en route to a 4-8 record.
They gave up 240+ yards rushing to Kent St. and Toledo that year. (230 to Bowling Green)
ETA:
You must be trolling. No one is that stupid to compare Wisconsin and Buffalo. I am done arguing with you.

He put four guys on their backs on that play alone.

The only negative thing I have to say about LF is he needs to drop about 10lbs. He looked stiff, and IMO it's from the bulk. I still think he can be special, and one below average game doesn't change that.

Nobody is writing him off...
We just love laughing at the dumbass excuses coming from the LSU Tiger faithful...
How'd our 2 true freshman do against one of the top defensive lines in the country??
Posted on 9/2/14 at 2:34 pm to IT_Dawg
To be fair, Chubb had fresh legs against a very tired Clemson D.
Posted on 9/2/14 at 2:34 pm to demosa
or maybe it's because he's running at 9/10 in the box on both of those plays?

Clemson wasn't in the top 50 in rush defense last year either. You're being a hypocrite.
ETA:
and Chubb is beast, but he was coming in after Gurley had broken Clemson. Gurley made them quit. There were holes wider than a pornstar's pussy in that 4th quarter.

Holy shite, you're right. I'll get with Les later so he can process the paperwork. I'll put in a call to SVP so we can get this news on the 5:00 Sportscenter.
Cam Cameron and Frank Wilson should be ashamed, offering that young man a scholarship.

down by 10 with 10 mins to go, they didn't quit...I believe Chubb's was the nail in the coffin...
PS - loses his shoe on the 37 yard line too

First game of the year where we literally had no backs rush for shite in the first half as Wisky allowed no running lanes. Good luck not worrying about this kid. He made some freshman mistakes, but he will improve once he settles in. Good god there is a shite ton of LSU posts today ....we all up in your heads
