Nick Saban had a 64% career win rate before he came to LSU….

Nick Saban coached at Toledo and Michigan State before coming to LSU

Lane Kiffin has coached at Tennessee, USC, FAU, and Ole Miss

The comparisons pretty much die immediately with even just a little bit of context.

The vast majority of Kiffin's time was at Ole Miss and FAU, two traditional doormats. Saban was only at Toledo for one season.

The comparison between Michigan State and Ole Miss is about equal, though I would think Michigan State was a better progam when Saban took it over than Ole Miss was when Kiffin took over there.

And Florida Atlantic was terrible until Kiffin arrived.

Kiffin was at Tenner for one season and improved its record by two games to 7-6, a good first year.

He was in a no-win situation at USC trying to follow cheating Pete Carroll, and he was probably not ready for the job.

Who would have been a better hire??

Maybe keeping the coach you had and giving him some nil money to work with.
