FSU needs a splash hire after the Willie fiasco...that would certainly count.

It’s amazing how this guy that has failed and/or is pretty much despised everywhere he has been a HC is still seen as a “splash” hire.

Kiffin isn't allowed to compete with Nick for recruits. If he does, Saban goes into the vault and whips out the Kiffin buttsex pictures.

Yes. Saban keeps pictures of people having buttsex.

That's one thing that is utterly untrue. The Raiders sucked when he was there, but they sucked before he got the job and they sucked after he left so that was a push.

His sole season at Tennessee he improved from 5-7 to 7-6 with a bowl appearance. It was 6 years before they had a better season.

At USC he never had a losing season, wasn't having one when he got fired, won his division once and never finished worse than third. He did as well as Carroll did his last couple of years and Sark and Helton have done since.

At FAU he took over a program that had won 18 games in five years and hadn't been to a bowl in eight. Partway through season 3 he's already won 22 games and they're already bowl eligible for the second time in three years.

His mouth and his dick will always get him fired but his on-field performance as a college coach has been far better than average.

Interesting. Here's something the radio pointed out this morning that I was unaware of. The buyout was about 17 million, FSU ad has been running under a deficit. They can't exactly pony up the kind of money they used to. Paying a head coach is one thing, but how much to pay assistants? If you can't pay assistants what they are making, they probably won't leave their current jobs. Lane and a smaller salary might be the best FSU can do right now, and still have enough to pay for good assistant coaches.

We don't want Lane. They will hire Stoops after everyone else turns them down. Programs that will never get back to the top of that hill:

Nebraska
FSU
Miami
LSU

Yeah major concern for them is money. Not sure how they're in that bad of shape as a major state university but they probably can't afford meyer or bob stoops which makes me wonder if they could afford Gus (a name that has come up, albeit not as much as others)
That leaves more minor candidates who may not wanna leave a safe job for a place with high expectations that can't afford much, unless the boosters are gonna dump even more money in

Easier path to achieve a foothold at the top of the conference. ACC is up for grabs behind clemson.

Is it an inside joke on this board to spell Kiffin wrong? It's done pretty frequently.

Don’t believe the hype. There are still people who claim I’m getting the name of that Helsinki kid wrong. I guess it’s some sort of an inside joke.

For starters they paid Oregon somewhere around $3 mill to buyout Taggart's contract at OU, and also what was left on his buyout from South Florida, which was a million and change...not to mention the $17 mill on his FSU deal. In total the Taggart buyout has now cost them about $21 mill
