Orgeron has ALWAYS worked for Kiffin. How much do you think Kiffin is going to listen to him? In fact, he'll flat out buck Orgeron when he wants to. O won't have the leash on Kiffin and Kiffin will not hesitate to take advantage. There will be a huge division in the coaching staff, Orgeron will be bucked by Kiffin, other coaches will see it and lose respect for Orgeron and they will start doing their own things.
Hell, O's players are already telling him that they're gonna play when they damn well want to play. There probably wasn't a section on discipline in his little binder.

How many other job offers did he have when he accepted the OC position at Alabama?
well he started working with Alabama in December, not really much time to even entertain other offers before Alabama hired him

no one else would? he went from being a HC at USC to taking an OC job at Alabama. I don't exactly call that slumming, and highly doubt he would have been jobless otherwise
The revisionist history with Kiffin is amazing.

I graduated from UA in 2011, so I probably know more about it than you. Coonass.

Sure then we can get Helfrich who might even be a better OC.

He was unemployed in September. Anyone could have hired him. Les could've hired him.

You don't know Les Miles

Les never would've hired him. Kiffin doesn't have the fight or the want to be at LSU.

Other than Saban telling him to gtfo, I don't see him leaving for anywhere else as a OC.
it'll be for a HC job only.

Yeah, lost my mind for a sec.

He was a phenomenal OC at USC, turned around a horrible UT to take them to a bowl in his only season there, and went 28-15 at probation riddled USC
To think he wouldn't have had an array of choices as OC is naive at best

I think a Saban Kiffin mix is the perfect storm.
If Saban got everything he wanted, he'd be too conservative.
If Kiffin got everything he wanted, they would be too pass happy and not run the ball when they need to.
They're a good balance to each other

At least we both got a smile out of it

In the middle of the season? How many teams are looking to fill assistant coaching positions in October?

I said this the second he was hired, and I think there are actually gumps around here that remember it. I think I was the only one on this board that said it was a brilliant hire. Monte Kiffin's D is always what held Lane back and he has always been an absolutely killer offensive mind. Now? He's built up equity with Saban. Do you think without Kiffin, Saban would have been starting a true freshman QB? Absolutely not. Watching him work with Sims and Coker allowed Saban to loosen up and lean on offensive playmakers instead of protecting them. Lane Kiffin is the perfect compliment to Saban and I'm not so sure they win a National Title last year without him, and I definitely don't believe they'd win one this year.
