I agree, beating Oregon at Oregon is a great win. I would put in on par with beating Notre Dame at Notre Dame. Now look at the rest of their schedule. Also, compare the non-cons. It's not even close.

I don't see how you can Vegas lines are just people guessing. When money is on the line, it's never just guessing.

Y’all making this harder than it needs to be. Would you take atm h2h over Indiana? I would. Would you take ATM over osu? I wouldn’t. But let’s be honest some 2 loss team out there right now is about to get hot and win the whole thing.

ESPN SOR Criteria
OSU gets dinged for Strength of Schedule in that calculation but is #1 in everything else. Ditto for IU.
A&M finished first due to SOS . . . .They lag both Indiana and OSU on FPI, Poll Rankings, Game Control Rank, & Average Win Probability
Such a terrible stat.

It holds more water coming from an opposing SEC coach than it does if Commissioner Sankey says it. Kiffin knows exactly what he is doing.

A lot of these metrics are also flawed because they are including poll rankings and expected winning percentage based on what, star ratings?
Do we even know how FPI is actually calculated?
If A&M started the year with a top 5 pre-season ranking, then the “metrics” would be different.

The only thing Kiffin is doing is lobbying for more accountability from the Playoff committee. They are lying when they said they would account for strength of schedule. This was the one metric the SEC needed to hear for them to decide to switch to a 9 game schedule. It also harms the non-conference because the committee is telling teams, schedule cupcakes because the non-con doesn't matter. This harms the sport overall. That's all Kiffin is saying and he's only using A&M to prove his point. The SEC is going to get boned in the future because of cannibalism from a 9 game SEC schedule.

Indiana should be 2. It's win at Oregon is more impressive than anything Ohio State has done

Lane is wrong. Ole Miss should be number one

I literally don’t know of a big 10 coach making it a thing lol

Sure. It's called an educated guess.

Indiana chose not to schedule anyone OOC and they got a favorable B1G schedule. That's fine but if they stuggle at all it should impact them harshly and they definitely struggled against a 3 win Penn State without their coach or starting QB. There should be a consequence to that. A lot of the other stats are less relevant because the SoS is so different and it gets into playing styles. For instance A&M has given up several garbage time TD's and a lot of yardage that made scores closer and they have a habit of just running the ball in the 2nd half and sucking the life out of a team instead of lighting up the scoreboard. It's about the W not the style points.
Indiana likes to run it up when they can but there are also some blemishes on that schedule. How do you just beat Old Dominion 27-14? Iowa and Penn State are 3 and 6 loss teams that took them down to the wire. If you play no one OOC you shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt against someone that does. The Oregon win was a good one but this Oregon team may still have a couple of L's waiting on them with USC and Washington lurking and they haven't looked great against teams with a pulse.
I don't have an issue with Ohio State being #1, they scheduled Texas and they look dominant. No one has really threatened them all year. I don't think they are invincible but they are really good.

Unless tougher OOC games are HEAVILY favored, it probably doesnt make sense to do them.
You run into the phrase "but XXX team is undefeated, how can one rank a one loss team above them?"
The way it is now, it makes more sense to just schedule as many cupcake teams as possible and hope you dont fold when you play a real team.
ESPECIALLY, if you aren't a blue blood. Blue bloods tend to get more benefits of the doubt when they have a loss. The other teams (like A&M) will get dinged much harder.

Unless SOS and SOR become more important in rankings by the CFP committee, going to 9 games could turn out to be Sankey's biggest firckup since letting Texas in the SEC.

Did the Big 10 schedule any tough OOC opponents?
Any noteworthy OOC road wins?

Yep. Pretty clear message from the committee - even if that was unintended…
