After he signed his paperwork and sent it to Ole Miss? But Why?

Reading this thread should put to bed the whole "State isn't our real rival" talk that Mississippi fans cling to. It's salt in the wound after BARELY getting left out of the playoff after spending tens of millions on their roster

Meh. Worth it. Better than shrugging our shoulders, doing nothing and being content with 7-8 wins a year

Ole Miss will stack another loaded portal class and repeat the success that had us on the cusp of the playoffs.

Imagine going 2-10 and making fun of another program for investing in talent and having a chance to win 10 games again for the 3rd time in 4 seasons

I’m not him, so I don’t know.

Could be any number of reasons and I would say the most likely is his parents wanted both their boys at the same school. He liked State enough to commit in September.

I just think the extortion angle is ridiculous. If he knew that his brother’s scholarship hung in the balance then why would he ever flip to begin with? How could we expect to hold anybody hostage in the age of transfer portal?

Message board posts from the deranged portions of both fanbases are not evidence, either.

They seem content with 2-10 with their lack of firing a disastrous DC, who I assume they kept to keep this single 4 star on their roster. Who they’re celebrating as if it’s a huge recruiting coup when it didn’t affect our class.

He leaves out the bit about his brother but that’s what happened.

In other words, you don’t have a source for that part of your story.

Man, we’re trying to compete with the Georgias and Bamas of the world. Sure, the rivalry is real, and matter to fans on a local level, but we have bigger fish to fry, and aren’t looking to you guys to set any kind of standard. Keep looking up, losers.

Check page 4. There's a post from a former handler that covers it.

Lebby called his mom and said his older brother (a freshman on the Mississippi State team) wouldn’t have a spot on the team if he didn’t sign with State

The rest of the world doesn't really care what goes on in Mississippi.

This is why they just need to cut down to one team.

It's great for Mississippi and the SEC

Dude shut the fxck up about all this shite and stick to Alabama Auburn stuff if you are so clueless. There are plenty of post ON STATE boards talking about this when Lockhart originally committed to Ole Miss. All about it was a package deal and they need to cut his older brother. But if you are cool with that it basically proves you are a morally irredeemable person. I hope the kid finds happiness and is successful but history is full of cases like this not working out that way.

I have read Steve Robertson's post about the mom, so what's Ole Miss's side of the story?

I am gathering Steve is covering for something...

I might have misread, but is that not what every Ole Miss poster in this thread is saying?

Conspiracy to extort in-state recruits by manufacturing ties to State and then forcing them to sign against their will? I thought y’all said this has been going on for years, across multiple coaching staffs.

The Ole Miss side is that we got the financial paperwork without the mom’s signature and she ghosted us. Then he signed with MSU.

All other details posted have come from either Rosebowl or MSU message boards.

Are you unaware that his brother plays for MSU?

Have you genuinely never heard of 2-for-1 deals in recruiting?

Ok so yall are basically corroborating Steve and no funny business went down beyond the norms other than helicopter parents.

I say that knowing funny business is constantly going down and that is the norm now. 5* Offord exited his press conference like three times yesterday as schools continued to make their bids.
