People hate the Yankees because they dominated their sport - so that analogy doesn't apply to Texas.
People hate the Dodgers because they, too, have had a huge amount of success in their sport - so still not a good analogy to Texas.
People hate the Cowboys because they're entitled doucebags who think simply that the proximity of the state of Texas makes them better than everyone else, including all the people that came in to save their asses from Mexico.
So the last comparison is way more apt.

Kick out Texas and bring in Texas State.

All were football schools prior to the 1970's?
Dores had like a dozen or so conference championships and beat Utx like a red headed step child prior to the GI Bill and the rise of the state schools
Kentucky had Bear Bryant before Alabama did
Ole Miss was a National contender but had the misfortune to have this success in the Deep South at the same time as the Civil Rights movement.
What is sadder tho, is Utx and Ga Tech have the same number of Natty's and Utx considers itself a blue blood yet nobody thinks this about the Bumbles.
