More from Coach:
On being disrespected by "journalists:"
quote:
"I haven't heard one person who was on the sideline when it [erroneous media description of 'ignoring'] happened speak up about what happened. You can get a different perspective sitting in a studio than you could have gotten live."
quote:
"Why isn't he [Manziel] talking? Coming in here and saying words isn't going to change some people's opinions about who he is. That's my job as a coach, to prepare him and keep his energy positive, channel that energy and that emotion and make it positive. At the appropriate time he'll be able to speak for himself."
On being disrespected by "journalists:"
quote:
"I don't have to elaborate more, I just told the whole story. Like I said, I'm shocked. I shouldn't be shocked by anything anymore. But people have got to talk about something. Of all the things there are to talk about in this program, that is probably the last thing that needs to be talked about. I just told you what happened — and I didn't think twice about it.

Sumlin getting tired of the media feeding frenzy at A&M's expense.

I graduated in 1999. During that time, and before I even got to A&M, the honor code was never touted as some sort of holier-than-thou moral high ground. That was t.u. and other SWC programs finding a reason to pound on A&M and guilt us into not cheating like they were. Now that ESPN is harping on it, that tells me ALL I NEED TO KNOW about who is behind all the negative reporting on JFF.

This presser is golden, btw.
Yes it is.
The only suggestion I'd have for KDS is to lose the shades and get contacts like the VU player's. That would be a perfect look for him.

Glad that's cleared up

"I wasn't asking him a question. I made two direct statements, neither of which I can repeat here, and the worst thing he could have done was respond. He did exactly what he was told."
Pretty much sums up the rest of the non sense coming out of ESPN

IMO, Sumlin has now painted himself in a corner. He is obviously a good coach and I think he could care less about JFF's off the field antics as long as he doesn't get in trouble with the law.
I think the powers that be are putting pressure on him to reign JM in and he doesn't want to do it, but is hinting that he is doing so without coming out and saying it.
Two reasons why he won't bring the hammer down: First I think this would not be received well by Manziel at this point and secondly, I again don't think Sumlin really gives a crap about a frat party or some tweets.

FWIW, I didn't think anything of it when I saw Sumlin & JFF on the sideline. It was ESPN (Mark May) and the rest of the pundits that made it "appear" that JFF was dissing his coach and ignoring him.
Some folks (many aTm posters) were highly upset about JFF's actions in that game. The kid acts like a punk, we've all seen it - still doesn't change the fact that he's a great player that's fun to watch.

Lol @ Sumlin trying to act like he's in control

I did think way too much was made of the "bump" and the alleged ignoring. I was like no one knows what was said so how could anyone be sure that he was ignoring his coach.

Manziel is a saint. Everyone who ever implied anything negative about him was wrong. He is a wonderful well-rounded young man with zero personal faults. This proves that.
He is not, but its completely ridiculous and unprofessional how the media painted this picture that he told "frick you" to Sumlin and ignored what he was saying. Again, just making shite up to push their propaganda to the masses.
The Johnny Manziel saga is a prime example of "groupthink".

When I look at Manziel, I see pride. I see power. I see a badass mother who don't take no crap off of nobody.
