Yes. If they really wanted to get rid of Sumlin, they could have done better than Jimbo.

Sumlin wasn’t a bad coach though.

Hiring Jimbo must have been a great decision. It seems to really bother LSU and Clemson, people.

Both schools get nervous when you start talking about sums of more than $20.

Sumlin was their best coach ever.

2019 for LSU was the perfect storm and it was a hell of a season to watch but I think LSU as a whole needs to settle down a tad. You mixed your talent with a QB transfer along with a coach that could form actual sentences. Bama will always be the team to beat in the SEC until further notice.

No one wins big at A&M. Jimbo may be a pretty solid coach he just prioritized money over championships when taking that gig. Not a criticism, just a fact.

Sumlin was the definition of a coach that road his success on 1 or 2 key players and I am not saying that is his fault. His style of coaching just puts to much pressure on the defense especially when his high flying offenses are not scoring points and going 3 and out within 25 seconds on the game clock.

Has Jimbo considered recruiting good players like Manziel and Evans?

This was LSU's 3rd National Championship and 4th championship game appearance in 16 years.

All shite aside the world will end and A&M will NEVER even become remotely close to having that level of program. shite it may already be ending.

Through two years at Texas A&M:

Kevin Sumlin
2012: 11-2 (6-2, T-2nd SEC West)
2013: 9-4 (4-4, 4th SEC West)
0 SEC Championships
0 National Championships
Notes: AP #5 Finish first season.

Jimbo Fisher
2018: 9-4 (5-3, T-2nd SEC West)
2019: 7-5 (4-4, 4th SEC West)
0 SEC Championships
0 National Championships
Notes: $75 Million dollars wasted.

Numbers don't lie.

2 years into a 10 year contract. Fire his arse. Jimbo is a good coach but he cant turn our roster into world beaters over night. Sumlin was great at recruiting skilled positions but so many glaring weaknesses in the trenches. Oh and Kellen Mond.

All y’all can debate it ‘til the cows come home.
I’m just grateful our AD at the time, Scott Woodward, did the [Fisher] deal.
He handled it like the pro he is.

The Message Behind the Money: How Texas A&M Landed Jimbo Fisher - Sports Illustrated

quote:

Woodward explained that Fisher wouldn’t have to fight for what he wanted. Texas A&M had already built all of it. And if Fisher needed something else, he only needed to ask. To understand the difference in giving power between Texas A&M’s donors and Florida State’s donors, consider the two schools’ endowments. Florida State’s is $731 million. Texas A&M’s is $11.6 billion. Fisher won many of those fights at Florida State, but they took a toll on him and university leaders. “Even though you may get things done,” he says, “the friction and the amount of time it takes you daily to fight the battles when you should be doing something else is tough.”

Sure you wanna go there?
FSU- all girls school until 1947: 3 NCs since WW2. Won 10 games every season from 1987-2000.
A&M- One top 5 finish since WW2

I don’t mind going there.
There isn’t an Aggie alive who wouldn’t want a more successful record since our college/university’s inception.
I’m not sure what your comment has to do with mine?

My point was: There’s a reason Woodward moved Heaven and Earth to hire Fisher.
Most of us are willing to give Coach Fisher time to implement his ways.
Two years is kinda unreasonable.

I mean FSU and A&M is a non-comparison. He was on the decline since 2013 even with all those top 5 recruiting classes. only Aggy would be desperate enough to break the bank for him. I hope Woodward was pressured by boosters into that awful deal and has learned his lesson

I didn’t compare them; you did.
I pointed out a quote describing how/why Woodward was able to pull the trigger on the Fisher deal.

I get that you’re no fan of Texas A&M University, but it feels like you’re moving the goalposts with each post.
