Per all the tweets that just came across my timeline.

@KyleTucker_CJ: UK announces it has extended football coach Mark Stoops through the 2018 season.

So he can expect to receive a lifetime contract if he makes it to a bowl before then?

Ticket sales up, spring game attendance up, recruiting up = extension.

None of that will keep up if you go 0-8 again.

I guess it's for exceeding expectations in recruiting...

Who wouldn't agree with that statement? CMS won't get to the end of his extension without improving the W/L record either.

Having your coach under contract for a minimum of four years is necessary for recruiting purposes.

Does Kentucky have a cap on years on a contract similar to Mississippi?

Then a five year contract to start, tanks the first year no need to extend it out to four years it is already there and you do not appear to be rewarding sub-mediocrity with a contract extension.

Our AD knows what he's doing.

He's not rewarding mediocrity. We're recruiting better than we ever have. We're already piling on 4* players for the next class too. Better recruiting classes will result in better on field play.

In order to bring those 4* players in you have to have a stable program. A head coach with a good contract means stability.

No coach could have won with what Mark Stoops had to work with last season. Not even Nick Saban. There will be improvement this season.

Smart move. They won't do any better than him. He's building a good program from the ground up. No gimmicks with him.

UK is demonstrating long-term commitment to a football coach recruiting at an unprecedented level at UK.

I don't have a problem with it.

I'm still trying to figure out why Arky fans are so interested in our program. Could it be because they see our superior recruiting and know that it's only a matter of time until they replace us at the bottom of the cellar?
