Honest question: how does it feel counting on transfers to keep the QB spot filled at Auburn?

Quite frankly it sucks arse. I have said for a while now. Gus cannot develop talent and is a horrible QB coach. I think there are some coaches that develop well who are assistants at other positions, but not at QB. We need an upgrade at OL coach, and I am not sold on Burns at WR coach although he can bring in some talented WR’s. The WR’s may also be a symptom of the offensive scheme and the poor routes they teach.

Gus and assistants were bringing in top talent but with some poor showing in NFL draft I have noticed a slight drop in talent committing. The recruits can see the issues. Again, my opinion. I do not follow recruiting in detail like I used to.

Stidham was the good puzzle piece in the wrong puzzle. He was great last year but even someone like Tua would struggle behind our O-line this year. They were maybe the least talented group in the entire P5. Amd the piss poor play calling didn't help.

Not really. He was solid at times but benefited greatly from KJ and a very good defense.

He makes too many huge mistakes, he didnt have any pocket presence and turn the ball over way too many times. He was far from great

who besides Mullen can develop a QB? In the sec

Pretty sure enos, and morris are known for QB development.

Also gus is a terrible QB coach, and his QBs regress every year.

We all told you that there was NO WAY that Bama would play in the cotton if we were matched up with OU but you would not listen.

Gus the offensive 'guru' can't even recruit his own QBs.

I mean I keep reading this everyday but Nick Saban has had the best recruiting classes in the nation for 10 years.

Can anyone tell me how many of his QB's played in the NFL?

Good kid, but underwhelming as hell compared to the hype I bought into. Why I don't really give a shite where KB goes. I'll wait to see it on the field.

Lol. Poor life choices going to Aub, crazy Gus will regress what skills he already possesses as a passer. He will be infinitely worse. All part of his plan to enter the NFL as a WR I guess.

No thank you

He’s another stidham.

He also had one decent season and got beat out by a true freshman.

What’s happening to the defense? Do they return a lot?

No. Probably losing most of the front 7. (Davidson, Russel, Brown..then all three starting LBs are seniors)
Cow should be back, but could leave, too, if he wants to risk it. They have some decent players to put in there, but none as talented or experienced as what they lose....and depth will be a problem, too.

That true freshman you speak of is arguably the most talented QB in the nation.

I think Bryant will do well at AU if he comes. Gus does better with a QB with a true running ability. Plus, the experience KB brings is a real asset. He's a much better option than what we have on the bench.

Bryant would make the team better.

Alone he is not nearly enough to make us contenders for the SEC, but still will help us in the lower tier games like A&M.

It does suck we have to rely on transfer quarterbacks. I am pretty sure Nix comes no matter what, so hopefully either we have a new coach for him or at the least a coordinator who can develop a qb.

I can't think of a better one, right now. Maybe in a couple of years....but not right now.

Little known fact, that was GusBus who called the fake punt. Kirby was completely over taken by the GusBus spirit.

To this day he can’t figure out how he could have called that play.

I agree. That kid is scary good.

I hope not to sound too cynical. But I think the only thing that could trip him up is how handles success, at such a young age.

Last year, I felt like the Oline would be your biggest concern going into the season. this year your front 7 has to be a huge concern. I realize you have some talented players moving up, but they don't seem to be as talented as the group leaving, and they have far less experience. Your Oline will continue to be a concern as well. The development of Asa Martin will be a big key for Auburn, as well. If he is ready it could really help. (I'm not sold on Joiner, but if I am wrong, he could be a help, too)

ETA
the comment about the front 7 players moving up was not meant to be snarky or demeaning. I mean, Auburn had one of the best front 7's in the country last year, (so it would be difficult for the young players to be as good)....possibly only behind Clemson.
