LSU because they would only have 3 Ls (2 SEC)
MSU would have 3 Ls (3 SEC)
Aub would have 4 Ls (3 SEC)
LSU would win in the SEC tie-breaker in that situation even though MSU arse raped us.

no it isn't. it's already been pointed out in this thread that money is the deciding factor. there's been more than one year when a deserving msu got passed over by an equal team who has a bigger following. this year would be no different. you can pretty much bet the house that lsu would get the nod even if the records are the same, msu is ranked higher, won head to head.
Nope. NY6 goes like this
5 spots to Power 5 Conference Champions
1 spot to highest Group of 5 Champion
6 Highest ranked teams left
This season:
1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 are the Sugar and Rose Bowls. The 1 seed gets the pick of the game they want to go to. Based on projections, Georgia-Clemson would be the Sugar Bowl and Alabama-Notre Dame would be the Rose Bowl
The Orange Bowl gets the highest two ranked ACC/Big 10/SEC not in the playoff. Right now on projections that would be Miami vs. Wisconsin
The Peach, Cotton and Fiesta Bowls features two "at-large" selections, with the Fiesta having a Big 12/Pac 12 preference. Since only the SEC and ACC champions are in the playoff, and Wisconsin is slotted to the Orange, then the following conference champions are guaranteed a spot in one of these three games:
Oklahoma: Big 12
Washington: Pac 12
While it could be negotiated out, this would probably be the Fiesta Bowl matchup, leaving four spots in the Peach and Cotton Bowls.
Central Florida would have one of those spots by virtue of being the highest rated Group of 5 conference champion. This leaves three spots for New Years 6 games. The top three teams that have not earned a spot are:
TCU, Auburn, Ohio State
Auburn-Ohio State could be an intriguing matchup in the Cotton, and throw TCU vs. Central Florida to the Peach. But its likely that the Peach would select Auburn as Central Florida's opponent.
Its amazing that this is the fourth season we've been in this format and there are people who care enough about college football to actively post on a message board don't get it.
Here's another shocker: The Liberty Bowl is now the same as the Outback Bowl in the pecking order.

Well if we weren't talking about State I'd say you're right.
The fact is State is still State....and that will always factor into this.

The SEC very likely isn't getting a third team.

The fact is we beat your arse by 30 points, are ranked higher now, will be ranked higher then, and will get a NY 6 bowl before you will, and that will always factor into this.

I get that this is based on the current standings. But since Auburn plays both Ga and Bama, it is impossible for both Ga and Bama to make the playoff plus Auburn be in contention for an NY6 bowl. You have to plug in 3 losses (incl the SECCG). Either Ga/Bama will drop because Auburn wins or Auburn drops because they lose.
NY6 is mostly about money. Miss St has to win out to go and hope Auburn loses the 2 big games.

Barring any upsets in SEC play, the final standings in the conference will be:
UA/UGA 8-0
UA/UGA 7-1
LSU 6-2
AU 5-3
MSU 5-3
...
If MSU gets blown out this weekend, their September win vs LSU won't carry much weight.

Neither will get a NY6 bid, but the pecking order between the two will depend a lot on how State performs against Alabama.

If you lose to Bama and LSU wins out, LSU may get bumped ahead. The committee may use the LSU had injury issues early but are now healthy excuse and the fact that LSU has 2 conf losses to your 3, to pick LSU who they will view as a team that will make more money for the sponsors, etc. It isn't fair but it wouldn't surprise me.

Are we talking Sugar Bowl?
If the loser of the SECCG misses the playoff, then the Sugar Bowl committee would be totally stupid not to invite them.

You're not jumping ahead of MSU if they both end up 9-3. You lost to freaking Troy dude. You're not getting into a NY 6 game. Get it out of your head. The committee has already made it very clear who they think is the better team with equal losses.

When they both had two losses, sure.
Now LSU has three losses. State has two.
If State plays Alabama relatively competitively, then they'll probably stay ahead of LSU is both teams finish 9-3.
If State gets destroyed by Alabama, then LSU will jump State and probably finish higher than them.
That's what it boils down to.

I agree that for a NY6 bid, State will have to win out - this season. But Ole Miss went 9-3 in '14 with losses to three 8-4 or worse teams. And there is no rule about a conference getting four teams in NY6 - which is very possible . The Big Ten sent four last year.

I guess we will find out. I don't expect State to get destroyed at home by anyone, especially a team that beat LSU by 14 at home and A&M by 8 on the road.

In the first three years of this format, there have been 36 teams make New Years Six games. Only five have been ranked lower than No. 12
2014: Boise State (ranked 20th, highest non-Power 5)
2015: Houston (ranked 15th, highest non-Power 5)
2015: Oklahoma State (ranked No. 16, highest non-playoff Big 12)
2016: Western Michigan (ranked No. 15, highest non-Power 5)
2016: Auburn (ranked No. 14, highest non-playoff SEC)
When the Sugar Bowl is not a playoff game, the highest non-playoff SEC and Big 12 teams play. When the Sugar Bowl is not a playoff, the SEC has an agreement with the Orange Bowl (see 2014 Ole Miss, 2016 Auburn), where the two highest non-playoff Big Ten/ACC/SEC teams play (see 2014 Mississippi State).
The Rose Bowl has a similar Big Ten/Pac 12 tie-in when it is not a semifinal. The Fiesta Bowl has a different setup. They have preferential picks for available Big 12 and Pac 12 teams, but if say, Iowa State and Washington State were to win their conferences, they would be guaranteed a New Years 6 bid, but not necessarily the Fiesta.
If Oklahoma and Washington are available teams, the Fiesta can say they want them both and skip the de facto draft with the Cotton and Peach Bowls.

Nah. Without an AD in place, no way Gus is canned. He's got another year locked up now.

Hey,Junior. Florida State and Louisville were both 9-3 last year. Louisville had a better conference record. Louisville also beat Florida State, 63-20
What team did the Orange Bowl invite?

Neither. Florida State was the highest ranked ACC team available and thats what they got because thats what the contract with the CFP says.
No. 11 FSU gets the bid over No. 15 Louisville.
Its all about the rankings. And there is no way that both LSU and MSU end up 9-3 with LSU ranked higher.

You've already got blown out much worse by a team that LSU beat, albeit on the road. Alabama putting a whipping on Mississippi State wouldn't be that much a shocker.
