He's suppose to be the top contender for the 3rd corner spot, which is a very valuable position for Bama's D...

B.J. Scott is a converted WR

Scott was an athlete out of HS, expected to be a shutdown corner. Chose to try his luck at WR as a frosh, then switched to CB during the bowl season last year(a place he should have began at IMO). And took a shirt this year to get caught up to speed. I expect good things from him.

Baseball
Basketball

So yeah, unless your school is complete garbage at those sports, people give a frick.

We are SCREWED if Jackson leaves after this year. Saban's blitz packages are predicated on the corners being left on an island. Dre should be able to hold down one spot but there's a bunch of question marks after him. Phelon Jones couldn't cut it at LSU. B.J. Scott is a converted WR. Milliner's only a true freshman. Seven seniors will be gone from the defense and Ro's likely to declare. USC had to go through a similar situation this year and we all saw how much they struggled. It just doesn't bode well for next year.

Actually, Scott was a DB moved to WR then moved back to DB.

Milliner

Is a safety, IMHO. Dude is just too good coming up to stop the run to play him at corner.

Plus, I believe it takes a freak (paging Dre and his swagga) to be tall and rangy while at the same time playing press man.

I think Milliner gets here, and puts on 15 pounds, plays 3 years at safety and goes to the league.

Didn't know that. Still, Scott will be a very unproven commodity due to his inexperience playing the position at the college level. Alabama doesn't have a defense that can consistently generate pressure on a quarterback without blitzing. Cornerbacks will have to be left on an island. Teams with good #2 and 3 receivers like LSU and Arkansas will cause all kinds of matchup problems.

I would actually prefer Keenan Allen to stay at safety. I know Saban promised him a shot at WR but this kid could be another Eric Berry/Laron Landry in the making. It would be a waste to move Milliner to safety with his speed and athleticism.

He is a great atlete, but not nearly as polished as Dre or Patrick Peterson coming out of highschool. He doesn't have the hips of Dre either, but better straight line speed.

Safety might be his destination.

That makes no sense.

You don't think he'll be in man coverage as a safety?

I coached against him this year and in my opinion it would be a waste to use his physicality at corner instead of safety.

I'm also not real big on 6'1/6'2 corners. There just aren't many of them in college that can play corner successfully.

PS Your track record on personnel isn't that great

Milliner will play Corner and be a great one. Perry, Williams, and Woodson have the safety spots locked down in the future.

I disagree, I've been hearing that Keenan is just as good a WR as a DB. And we have the safety area filled with talent.

Yeah, sort of. I mean there are some guys out there that can do it, Dre Kirkpatrick for one. For the most part though, those guys just aren't quick enough and good enough in the hips to backpedal (or shuffle in Saban's case) turn and run, re-direct and make a play.

For the most part, guys that are 6'2 aren't going to move like guys that are 5'9.

The average height of a NFL DB is under 6 foot.

I think he plays WR.

We have missed on several wide receivers in my opinion. I think Keenan and White (TX) can come in and have a chance to play next year.
