he funny thing about that is, the only way you get Alabama to being close to the same level of the rest of the SEC is by deleting 30 years of history.

Why would posters care about football games before we were born when cheating was an art nearly perfected by Bama (I say nearly perfected because they were caught often) and there were no scholly limits.

Truthfully even during this 30 year or since 80' period it has pretty much been roughly about equal for the big 6 in the SEC, all with their ups and downs, with UF having the lead and all the others being pretty much equal

SEC Champs
8
6
5
5
5
5

NC's
3
2
2
1(+at least one more )
1
1

Wouldn't it have to be the last 7?

Just wasn't sure which ones you were claiming.

They must have voted on the final national champions in 1964 before the bowl games were played. Gumps were 10-1. Lost to Texas 10-1 in the Orange Bowl.

I've "seen" four in my lifetime. I only remember '92 & '09, but I was born in '78 so I technically "saw" '78 & '79 championships.

That is correct. AP NC was awarded before the bowl games that at that time were thought of as a post season award not part of the season. The bigger point is the Arkansas was 11-0 that year (I think).

The Sugar Bowl in 79 was one of the best games I have seen.

Note I did not claim 1966 (the year of the missing ring) when Alabama was 11-0 and voted NC by a minor poll but ND at 9-0-1 was awarded the AP/UPI before the bowl games and ND did not even play in a bowl game.

Actually 10, you gained five between 1985-86.

I forgot about that. ARKY beat Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl. They probably got hosed.

Was that the game that caused the National Champs being named after the bowl game?

Thats why I asked which ones you were counting. Alabama probably got hosed. If nothing else, it should have been a split NC with Migh State and Alabama. ND and Parseghian should be discounted for being a pussys.
