He explains it and his logic makes perfect sense. Ole Miss needs and wants this win more. That settles that.

Does it matter? The game is huge for either one this season. Whoever loses will be angry. We’ll hate it more for the emotion of it all, but I don’t really get why it matters who it matters to more.

I think this is pretty self evident just by virtue of LSU going 7-6 last year and Ole Miss being 13-2 team that made the playoffs.

Building up a team that didn't do very well last year puts a lot less pressure than trying to maintain something.

Maybe not more important to ole miss, but it’s definitely more important to Golding

Pate is absolutely correct.

A Ole Miss loss, especially if it is decisive, initiates the inevitable decline for OM.

If Old Miss loses, their fans will say "oh no we suck again."
If LSU loses, their fans will beat their wives.

I don't think that anyone should anoint Pate as Grand Soothsayer for that observation. I'm not in the business of telling others how they should feel, and I seriously doubt anyone can gauge that part of fandom with any accuracy.

My one lean is that Ole Miss has a home game, and in the SEC that matters big time. Protect your home field, and that's why it's never been about just who you play, but where you play them. When any contender has their biggest games at home, that is always an advantage. You don't want to blow it.

This board has proven many things over the years, but its ability to accurately predict a decline ceases to be a strong point for the masses
