All P4 leagues should get together and agree on the same divisional format to create more equal scheduling in their leagues.
You bring up a great point about the divisionless schedules leading to these weird anomalies where some of the best teams aren’t playing each other enough. When you are the ACC and have 18 teams, with about 14 being crap, and only 8 conference games, any attempt to “balance” the schedule really just means those top 4 teams don’t play each other and equally play 8 shitty teams. It has become a scheduling game of best protecting the top from losses with far more flexibility than under divisions.
The SEC has too many good teams to insulate all of them (8 have won national titles in the last 30 years). The Big 12 has so much mediocrity (they call it parity) that they don’t even know who they should protect in any given year (see AZ St). But the B10 and especially ACC are top heavy enough they can schedule their best teams into near guaranteed 10 win seasons as long as they don’t collapse like FSU.

A G5 team winning their league should never get an auto bid and especially a bye in the tournament.
G5 has to have access or more lawsuits. This was possibly one of the largest reason the CFP expanded to 12. However, totally agree about the bye. should not happen, but if not them, who? a team that lost in conference championship game (SMU, texas or Penn state)? A team that didn't make the conference championship at all? Or Clemson that got the auto bid but otherwise was out? Boise was a safe call for 4th spot bye

Boise state isn’t just a G5. They have been scheduling and been on the national stage for a while.

Hell the ACC and B12 were so bad that Boise got the #3 seed.

Well it's not the exact structure the SEC wanted. Sankey voted for the playoffs to just be seeded 1-12 and not have the 4 byes automatically go to 4 conference champs. Other ADs get a say though so it's not like Sankey can just overrule them.
Of course he could. This playoff structure is nothing without the SEC. We hold all the cards.

Go to 16 teams and go to real seeding, not just conf championship winners.

If my memory is correct it was the B10 who pushed for the autobids and byes for champs out of fear you might have 2-3 SEC teams getting byes every year. ACC and B12 obviously loved it as well and sort of ganged up on the SEC at that point. Sure they needed the SEC to agree but the SEC had to cave if they wanted the 12 team playoff and all that revenue. They had already added Texas and OU under the assumption that the even harder conference schedules wouldn’t be an issue with 12 teams instead of 4.

The people complaining are the same assholes that agreed to this format. It's their own fault

I could give a shite about the SEC. Just want my team to win. They win and they are in. Don’t need to cry about how tough an SEC schedule is.

The system benefited everyone but the SEC this season. The B12 got their #12 ranked team a #4 seed and bye. The ACC gets both their title game participants in including their #16 ranked champ who got beat by their SEC rival who got left out despite being ranked higher. The B10 gets 4 teams

And yet this week they’ll roll out their conference schedule they gave zero thought towards

Yes, this is true in terms of just Alabama.
It's also besides the point.

Are we assuming the ACC or B12 are 2 bid leagues every year? They were both 1 bid leagues in the committee’s eyes until #16 Clemson stole a bid and forced their hand.

Little bro, even LSU managed to beat Vandy and OU this year.

The have to fix the seeding issue. College basketball gives autobids but doesn't guarantee a seed to go with it. That alone fixes most issues.
Thats how I thought it was going to be.
Top 5 conference champs just get Auto bids. No bye's.
The conference championship weekend should also be treated like the conference tournament for basketball (which they did for the most part)
If you are in, you will not get knocked out for losing, unless you were bumped out by a team that earned an AQ.
Just like for basketball. Unless you were the last 4 in, you ain't getting knocked out the tournament for going 0-1 in your conference tournament.
