I think players would want to play for Tennessee just because of Gruden being there.

I can picture some hs kid saying, "My grandpa said Gruden was a good coach at Tampa Bay back when he was my age. Are they in the ACC?"

Recruits, those approximately aged 14 to 18, were aged 1 to 5 when Gruden won a Super Bowl. They know him as an announcer and a pitchman. So, I don't follow this logic. If Pete Carroll went back to college, this argument would make sense.

Just let him keep believing that no 16-18 year old football player knows who Jon Gruden is...it helps him sleep

They know him, just not as a successful coach.

dude. They also know him as the QB coach with his own show. And everyone knows he was a former coach. If you don't think top tier HS football players don't know that Jon Gruden was a successful coach, then idk what to say, except you unequivocally wrong.

That being said, I am completely indifferent to this process. If Gruden is the coach, it will be interesting to see if he can be successful. I don't know how UT fans can look at their last three coaching hires and have any optimism for this one.

Sounds like a perfect replacement for Mullen if Tennessee does take him.

He's a massive name in football that will be able to attract a great staff. Is he going to win like Saban and dominate the SEC? No. Will he win 9 or 10 games and compete for the east every year? Yes

This is the Harbaugh hire for the SEC. everyone knows Jim is going to get a conference title or 2 at UM but when he doesn't he still wins 10 games. Gruden is a massive step up from Butch and it's not even up for discussion

Just chalk it up to jealous LSU fans. Many of us would shite a golden brick had we landed Gruden as HC. Now that it seems UF and UT very well could land their #1 coaches, we are going to be pissy, mainly at Joe Alleva.

Although if LSU wins out this year, with only 3 losses, I will feel much better about O and this staff. Until Aranda and Canada leave, that is.

Harbaugh finished last season 1-3. They don't look like world beaters this year either. So if Gruden=Harbaugh, that would be just about right for Tennessee.

If Duny gets credit for that team then Gruden gets credit for the raiders team that went to the superbowl...cant have it both ways

No shite. Dungy only had like 8 years to get an offense that would rank as miserable.

Gruden made the neccessary fixes and won it all.

When Gruden fails they will have to fire everyone from the president down to the ball boy. Even make changes to the board somehow. This will be an epic fail and Tenn. Will never recover. Books will be written it will be so bad.
