Again, I am not predicting a real fall-off.
He probably overperformed this year, so I expect him to have a season more like his norm. He's a great player, so I'm sure he'll still be great but it's hard to catch lightning in a bottle two years in a row at the QB position. Coaches get an entire offseason to watch tape and figure out how to adapt.
I think "struggle" is going way overboard with the step back. His stats should drop, but he's still going to be a top quarterback in the conference.

I actually see his passing stats going up and his rushing stats going down.

This. His pocket passing got better as the year wore on, see Missouri after injury for example. Add in the great running backs and wide receiver recruits.. he won't have to improvise as much. And just to make myself happier, maybe a new OC will use those running backs like they should be used.. to run the damn ball.

A&M fans make it sound like they have Pro-Bowl talent all the way back to the scout team.

Not sure if "struggle" is the correct word one should use. I do believe he will be better defended, due to the outstanding defensive coaches we have in the league. I think they at least limit him. I mean this year LSU did it. Florida did it. Bama did it for 3 quarters. And regardless of what some posters say, he's going to get hurt one day with the way he runs. He DOES NOT have Tebow's or Cam's body or strength to take repeated blows.
Anyway, A&M's defense was the reason they won this year. They were stubborn and deserve just as much credit for the team's success as Manziel gave them.
But to answer the question, it is

Well, we are signing 85 players/year now.

No, we're just confident that new players can step up. Other fan bases are the ones saying that whenever we lose NFL talent it's the end of the world. Obviously this good of a case doesn't happen often, but going into this year most everyone's concern (myself included) was our replacement at QB. How'd that turn out?
Our towel boy won't be replacing Joeckel. We'll manage.

They sound alot like MissState and Arky fans during the off season. I mean Arky was a top 5 team last year, now look. Things can go south in a hurry.

This has been known...but no one did it better than LSU and Florida

I didn't say there are scrubs backing them up. But anytime someone makes a comparison to another team or questions depth, y'all rattle off five names like they are all gonna be All-Americans.

Concerning the linemen, the only names mentioned immediately to fill the starting roles are Joseph Cheek at tackle and Germain Ifedi at guard (Cedric Ogbuehi moving from starting guard to starting tackle).
Concerning Moore...we have no replacement for him. Hopefully Brandon Alexander can live up to his potential if that happens.
Alabama lost 8(?) starters on defense. Clearly, they fell apart, right?

I was actually speaking more to WRs and RBs names being thrown around.
Haven't even read a thread with replacements to OL or DL.

B. It was proven in the second halves of the Bama, LSU and UF games. He will do ok against the lesser teams.
Please stop perpetuating this myth. Bama never once in that game figured out how to stop the team. A&M missed two easy field goal tries. If they make those they don't go for two and the box score reads:
1st half 20 points
2nd half 16 points
Bama made A&M punt 2 times the whole game. THEY NEVER FIGURED OUT THE AGGIES.

It's not like we lose Mike Evans (our leading receiver) or Malcome Kennedy (#84, the one who caught the game winning touchdown pass against Alabama). All of the names we're mentioning are incoming 4-star VERY HIGHLY rated recruits (Williams, Seals-Jones, Gonzalez, Parker)
The running back names we're mentioning ARE ALREADY ON CAMPUS and have been for over a year.
Brandon Williams was a 5-star rated back who transferred from Oklahoma
Ben Malena (returning starter) was a 4-star rated back
Trey Williams (returning) was a 5-star rated back who is our starting kick returner.
You've already seen all but one of the running backs.
We only lose Christine Michael at RB and return our leading receiver.

Johnny will struggle because:
New Coach
New Conference
New OC
New System
He's a new QB
...wait. Didn't we already hear this?
I am not saying we will repeat this year's success. But those reasons are already proved to be non-absolute.

You lose Swope, McNeal, and Nwachukwu who accounted for over 50% of the touchdown passes and over a third of the receiving yards. Obviously, you have great backups with potential, but listing five WRs and comparing them to Harvin, Murphy, and Hernandez when half of them haven't seen the field yet is a bit premature.
My comment about having backups as Pro-Bowlers was really just tongue-in-cheek. I do the same thing with Bama. I think our backups will come in and not miss a beat, but it's not always the case. I think our D this year had more raw talent/potential, but last year's was much better.

True, but the group of freshmen and sophomore WRs that will be playing for A&M in the Fall is insane.
