bullshite. Wooden had the best of the best players. See Lou Al Cindor (sp). I'm not calling him Kareem Abdul Jabbar or whatever his made up name was for that period.

Bear Bryant did it with "tweeners". People that weren't the best at their position but gave it all they had.

The difference between Wooden and Bryant was, Bryant could switch teams and beat you with your own guys.

I'd have to say they were pretty much equal. Both have done things in their respective sports that will likely never be topped. And both knew when it was time to walk away without tarnishing their legacies.

Of course, there are several CFB head coaches that have since passed Bear in wins, but how many more years did they have to coach to do it? And, Bear coached quite a bit in the 10 and 11 games a year era which makes his career even more remarkable.

I find it pretty low rent to start a comparison thread minutes after the mans death.

And to answer your question, the only person close to Coach Wooden would be COach Robinson.

Yes, a TD comparison of coaches thread is much worse than the Aubs dancing in the streets after the Bear died.

secondly, to actually contribute to the thread. Bryant was the best coach to EVER LIVE. but, that doesn't mean he's accomplished more. i think it's fair to say Wooden (who i didn't even know about until the past day or two) has kicked some ultra arse at his career in college basketball. that's cool and fine. i think some might argue that one sport might be harder to coach than the other.

7 in a row is hard as shite to argue though. that's plain ole'retarded awesomeness.

a true legend has died apparently. and i didn't even know who he was.

Wooden. There is no one even close to him in cbb.

It's highly debateable if Bear is the best cfb coach ever.
