Chavis had the top defense in the SEC last year

Sure didn't show against Auburn or Mississippi State. Nor in crunch time against Alabama or Notre Dame.

His unclutchness was starting to wear pretty thin.

Mingo will become the SEC's premier pass rusher

I don't think he gets DEs and how to use them.

I wouldn't trust his assessment anyway.

Chavis likes what Welter brings to his defense

Better Offense should soothe those concerns.

Not to mention what we're doing on the recruiting trail...setting up for another run.

Nobody said they didn't want him back. The frick?

We are just happy with the improvement in recruiting. That's all.

Do new points ever get made in these threads or has everyone just been saying the same things for the past 8 months?

Garrett had 1 sack vs LSU, Bama, Auburn, Arkansas and Ole Miss... but good luck. Not to mention he got absolutely abused by Collins, Alexander and Gordon

To be fair Garrett was still just a true freshman. Collins and Alexander are top NFL talents and Dillon Gordon has 4 years of experience with mauling guys. Garrett will be All-SEC this year, and this is coming from an LSU fan. Can't deny the skills there.

Even Minnesota said they drafted him on potential and measurables, not based on game film and production.

Every year guys who are meh football players get drafted relatively high based solely on perceived upside.

He will be playing contain every play under chavis. Kiss rushing the QB goodbye!

Why do y'all solely base Chavis off of last year. Just because y'all had average talent at DE doesn't mean he doesn't like to rush the passer.

LSU ranked 1st and 3rd in the SEC in sacks in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

I don't think they mind me saying, we have two of the best defensive ends in college football. It's a big statement, but I'm not afraid to make that statement.

What's he supposed to say? "These guys are alright but I've had better talent at my previous stops"? This statement from Chavis holds about as much preseason weight as Les Miles talking about our improved quarterback play. I'll believe it when I see it on the field.

Everyone is so dead set on LSUs offense sucking. Yet we have a Vegas predicted heisman finalist and the best OL I've seen at LSU in a long time.

If Harris just plays average then this O will be significantly better. LSU was the second youngest team in the conference last year behind Tennessee!

He's tearing up camp already and he had over 20 tackles for loss in 2 years. Talent was never Hunter's problem, how he was coached was the reason for his lack of sacks. He taught to play contain in passing game, bat down passes rather than go for the sack.

Your offense went three and out on seven of your first right possessions against Auburn, and the Bama game was all on the offense no being able to score a touchdown when the defense gave them the ball on Bama's five yard line.

LSU fans have had good defenses for so long they have become spoiled. They think anything less than the 2011 defense is shite and never hold Les Miles responsible for forcing Chavis to hold small leads all game.

Chavis will never lose a game at A&M because his defense gave up 13 points in regulation.
