Woodward is great at attracting Big Fish coaches with vast sums of other peoples money ! That’s his MO ! It doesn’t take an Einstein to get the attention of successful coaches when you wave that kind of money and contract duration under their noses.

Justin Timberlake obviously. We're talking about the Aggies here

Woodward is the Dombrowski of the NCAA but Bjork is the one who went full Captain Insano with the 10 year 95 million dollar extension after the covid season. You know the one Pawl said was athletic director malpractice

So does the agent get a piece of the buyout?

While I in no way want to defend Jimbo Fisher here, I would like to point out a couple of facts that OP missed:

1) Jimbo Fisher's winning percentage: 73.2%
2) Brian Kelly's winning percentage: 72.5%

Oh and Kelly makes more than Jimbo.

I am onboard with A&M telling Jimbo to get it turned around this year or be gone. Wonder how OP feels about his school and Kelly.

ok.. Kirby isn’t leaving.. so 4 names lol

Elko and Campbell would be good hires..
but JT is the one I don’t want them to hire. Fortunately, I don’t think they would seriously consider him, even though I have seen some mention his name.

I'd be worried if they hired Gary Patterson. He could do some damage with A&M's resources. Hopefully he is done with being a head coach though and wanting to stay semi-retired.

Even Matt Rhule would be a scary hire there, but doubt he would leave Nebraska.

Yes, that would be number five then, but I don’t see him leaving

Rhule (not leaving imo)
Smart (never would happen)
Gary Patterson
X
Justin Timberlake

Honestly just about any halfway decent coach could do a better job than Jimbo at this point..LOL!

Too save money because Jimbo is bending them over, they could go to the bargain bin and get a Matt Campbell from Iowa State or Kliff Kingsbury or someone like that with a little youth and fire that would probably be way better than Jimbo.

These schools have limitless money. They don't care about the buyout

Valid point.. i’ll add Campbell, Leipold, Gundy and Kleiman to the list. The other Campbell and Elko too.. that’s 11.

Matt Campbell
Dan Campbell
Gundy
Leipold
Kleiman
Elko
Rhule
Smart

3 Patterson
2 X
1 Timberlake

11 and counting that would be better than Jimbo..

Genius move by Woodard to make sure Aggies were stuck with him.

We can joke about it but Woodward wanted him. Imagine if we hired him though. Yikes…

I will say this.. and I’ve said it before.. why don’t schools offer incentives to other schools to hire their “bad” coach away

Jimbo is owed $76 million for 8 years

A&M AD calls up WVU AD
“Hey. Y’all should offer Jimbo the job to come coach for you. We will give you $50 million if you can hire him.

WVU offers Jimbo $100 million over 10 years and gets him for $5 million per year.

A&M only pays $50 instead of $76. Win win?

The problem is the culture at Aggieland, not the coach.

I don’t disagree we probably would, but he is so damn stubborn. I’m genuinely surprised he finally gave control of the offense to someone (we’ll see how that goes).

The Athletic Director and Head Coach create the culture or at least can change it some.. So it is partly Jimbo...
