Saban inherited an absolute dumpster fire of a program at the time. It's amazing that Saban won 7 games with that group to be honest. Jimbo had it much easier.

Jimbo Fisher 2017 - 6-6
Willie Taggert 2018 - 5-7

Man the separation between an all-time great coach and not being an all-time great coach is thin.

74-72 pretty much cemented it. All we have to do is beat NC State and its ours.

Did Sumlin have multiple 10-12 win seasons, top 10 finishes, division titles, and a conference title without Johnny? Because Mr. Fisher sure did without Winston.

Yeah at Houston when he was coaching in a shitty conference like Mr. Fisher

If Jimbo wins the Tax Slayer Bowl, he will be in elite company.

Sumlin has never won a conference title and never will.

You have to like the enthusiasm. At least he'll get a real ring after this season

Well Saban's second year at Bama he went 12-0 regular season and came within an eyelash (a penalty call back before Bama bought and paid for thousands of SEC and CFB employees) of going to the natty game his second year. So A & M should be a sack of hell in '19, right?

Nice try baw, but the rosters inherited by those two weren't even close!! UA was coming off crippling scholarship limits and had Mike "bandaid" Shula bumbling on the sidelines. I call Shula a band aid because no one wanted the job after Francione bolted to College Station before the sanctions came down. Our recruiting classes were a mess and the development was even worse. Sumlin recruited well and was way more consistent.
Saban > Jimbo all day log and twice on Saturday.

Hardly. They were only one year removed from a 10-win season and Shula's last 3 recruiting classes were ranked 19th, 11th and 10th.

Just like us, you are in a holding pattern until Saban retires. We will see you in the SECCG around 2025.

Not really on Saban and the dumpster. Kids were going to Bama even under the fallout of probation. They went 12-0 reg season and 14-0 and the natty with teams dominated by Shula recruits Saban's second and third years. I remember his great coming out party in Athens vs the 2nd or 3rd (maybe even the top) ranked Georgia Bulldogs. And Bama not even in the top 20. It was 31-0 Bama at the half. LOL!
