You really believe this? because I don't. You want to turn a kids head? Show him a fancy locker room, great weight room, and players lounge that is tricked out, and they will line up.
hence why in 2015 and 2016 Texas A&M, with the newest and best facilities in the conference (arguably the country) finished outside of the top 10 in recruiting.
quote:
They got a lot of great players.
they really don't. They are middle of the pack talent wise with the SEC. Better than many, but not nearly as deep as some others. Look at their depth chart.
quote:
If that is all they wanted they would be going to UAB, Troy, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
This is such bullshite. Freshman play all the time in the SEC. Literally every team starts and plays multiple young players every year. You must not follow recruiting at all? Kids flip to other schools because their current school they are committed to recruited someone for their position.
You don't have to go to UAB to play early....that's ridiculous.

Jimbo would be a solid hire and instant upgrade. I'd be concerned with his management of FSU this year, but overall he's probably the best successful coach who might be on the market.

Young players. Not freshmen.
Let's look at the top 10 in the CFP poll
Georgia - Starts 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores
Alabama - Starts 1 freshman, 5 sophomores
Notre Dame - Starts 6 sophomores (ZERO freshmen)
Clemson - Starts 6 sophomores (ZERO freshmen)
Oklahoma - Starts 2 freshmen, 8 sophomores
TCU - Starts 5 sophomores (ZERO freshmen)
Miami - Starts 1 freshman, 7 sophomores
Wisconsin - Starts 3 freshmen, 4 sophomores
Washington - Starts 2 freshmen, 6 sophomores
Auburn - Starts 1 freshman, 9 sophomores
A&M started seven freshmen against Auburn (QB-Mond, WR-Ausbon, OL-Green, OL-McCollum, LB-Johnson, CB-Renfro, CB-Jones) Only Ryan McCollum was a redshirt freshman out of that group.

I’d fess up if it was.. vaguely remember him but we are not the same. Sounds better than being tied to RDuke/Satterfield etc.. absolutely cannot stand that guy.
Well you must be doing something right to be confused for Dub, he was a good dude. talked some good natured smack, but he was a damn good poster.

The point is still exactly the same. Your best players are generally going to go wherever they have the best chance at playing, as earliest as possible. There are exceptions of course. But that is weighed considerably more than how nice the facilities are, when you already know no matter the university you choose, you will have very good facilities.
The entire point is that these kids aren't going to UAB to play early, and have shitty facilities. But they aren't choosing A&M over LSU based on facilities, if they can play much earlier at LSU. For the most part, of course.

Yes, there are many variables at play and they are prioritized differently by each individual recruit.

Read this article, and things look a lot more interesting. A&M has given EVERYTHING to Sumlin, while Fisher is constantly at odds with the FSU Admins

we are getting away from the point in this discussion, which is if Jimbo would be swayed to leave a job at FSU due to facilities at A&M, along with other things.
IMO that impresses the PJ Flecks of the world, because he's competing for 3 stars and Minnesota probably has just decent facilities, in comparison. FSU currently recruits better than A&M, and while their facilities are not as crackerjack, they certainly aren't anything to scoff at.
he ain't leaving a top tier job for A&M because A&M has money and nice stuff. FSU has money and nice stuff. You don't need a billion dollars to land the #1 player in the country. And a billion dollars certainly doesn't guarantee success. And it ain't like yall are gonna pay the man 9M bucks after he lost to NC State and beat Syracuse by 3.
IMO if he goes to A&M it's because he wants out of FSU, for whatever reason, and A&M is simply the best available job. Which is arguable, because UF is available. But I don't see him making that jump for obvious reasons.

Interesting article and exactly what LSU fans heard last year as well. Not saying that means anything, because I believe the AD at LSU made many mistakes.
It is worth noting that Chadd Scott is an SEC guy to the core, though. JS.

Jimbo Fisher not going to A&M
Dammmmmmmmn.
quote:
then Texas A&M is REALLY a lesser job than FSU. At least at LSU, you are the king of an entire recruiting-rich state. At Texas A&M, you will always be the Texas Longhorns’ annoying kid brother.

Read that one as well. It will be interesting to watch it play out

Why?
Because a reporter from Houston went on Paul Finebaum’s show on the SEC Network and said Jimbo’s name had been “mentioned“ as a candidate if Kevin Sumlin is fired by A&M.
Really?
Seriously?

You cited Mike Bianchi.
That's like CITING MIKE BIANCHI.
If you recall, this is the same idiot who thinks that the Mississippi Schools need to leave the SEC and be replaced by UCF and South Florida.
He's the CHIP BROWN of Florida.

This rumored hire rates high on my “meh” scale.
Put me in the no thanks camp.

I don’t like Aggies arguing with Aggies on this site, but you’re out of your damn mind. There is no reasonable standard by which Fisher is anything but a homerun hire.

Fisher is the almost complete opposite of meh.

No worries; I’m not looking to argue.
Most folks have ambivalent or “coolish” feelings towards a coach/team or two.
Fisher’s one of those guys for me.
I certainly respect your opinion, though.
