This is a conundrum for LSU fans.

Yeah, most are either thrilled or livid. I think you just have to trust Kelly on this.

quote:

First of all, why wouldn't he come back? It's not like NFL scouts are knocking at his door.

He was actually projected to draft, sometimes even middle rounds. He's really going to have to step it up though. 2024 QB class is stronger.

quote:

And he didn't exactly lose his job to Nuss. He got hurt and Nuss played well. That doesn't mean he lost his job.

Kelly sees these QB's every day, he knows who gives him the best chance to win, and Daniels has been that guy, and LSU overachieved with Daniels.

On the other hand, Nuss is apparently a badass. I don't know much about him other than watching him light us up in the 2nd half of the SEC CG. You'd hate to lose that guy to the portal because he's obviously got skills and potential.

There's a lot of talent in both of those guys, and Howard will probably be better than both.

Frankly, if we're going to lose 1, I'd prefer to lose Nuss. It'll suck to see him transfer somewhere else and throw for 4 to 5k yards, but I trust Daniels to improve on his passing more than I trust Nuss to stop throwing horrible interceptions.

What's Nuss's eligibility situation vs Daniels?

2023 is it for Daniels. Nuss will be a redshirt sophomore in 2023.

Nuss is going to be a RS sophomore

He’s still a bit of an unknown. Looked absolutely dreadful against southern in September but was throwing ropes against Georgia. Would like to see him and Howard battle it out in ‘24

Will suck that this means Nuss prob transfers, and there’s no denying Nuss has an nfl level ceiling if he can develop more, but I’m still not convinced that the Nuss I saw throw 2 interceptions in the Southern game doesn’t still exist. I don’t doubt that Daniels being less TO prone than Nussmeier played a big part in him winning the starting job

Didn’t I see where Boutte said he’s coming back too? If so, things lining up well for LSU.

One interesting side effect of NIL is that it seems to cause more mid-late round guys stay at big-time programs instead of leaving early.

Yeah, Boutte is staying.

The only pass catchers that are leaving are Kole Taylor and Jaray Jenkins. 459 yards and 6 touchdowns.

There's definitely room to be optimistic about the offense. It just needs a QB to step up.

Wonder if Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky, et al. might be making contact with him?

He probably lands at TCU if he transfers.

I don't get why everyone thinks Nuss is all of a sudden so highly regarded and desired by other programs. He played well against a team that was up a ton. He still made passes that typically get picked off and the safety took a bad angle on.

I think that everyone was impressed by his laser throws. Dude has a hell of an arm.

no doubt and if everyone has seen him play that arm makes him try passes that he shouldn't.

I want him to be great. But when a qb throws routinely into 2-3 man coverages I don't see him having great results against SEC caliber db's. There is a reason he is the backup. It is a bit amusing when LSU fans think JD sucks and want Nuss and Nuss can't beat out the guy who "sucks"

You guys realize JD was injured and didn't have his elusive running ability during the Georgia game right?

Jalen Carter is 300lbs. Jayden Daniels is 190lbs.

Would you be in awe of a 200lb person picking up a 90lb person?

If you say yes: You = weakling

If you say no: I win
