the tennessean To all you guys who have said Vandy will never compete in the SEC you might want to read what James Franklin is doing to build Vandy into a top SEC private school program. James Franklin must be having the time of his life! And the football recruits who buy in are part of something special happening in Nashville. Look out SEC!!! You no longer have a guaranteed 40 to 0 win on your schedule! Game Changer!

Inside the new Vandy Football Team Game Day. LINK After starting the season with 2 close loses to South Carolina and Northwestern Vandy got is first win 58-0 against Presbyterian. In past years this would have been a terrible game for Vandy. But this team went out and proved the point they were not going to give up on the season. Now they are playing for a 9-4 finish!

Am very impressed with what he has accomplished at Vandy. Will be interested to see if they can prevent let downs now that they have tasted success.
They will now have to worry about not choking when playing some teams like UT and AU going forward.

Not really, there's not a bad seat in the stadium! But if you are into 80,000 plus stadiums I guess it sucks per that definition.

Until the student body starts buying in, it will never reach full potential. They have been so apathetic for so long towards football it will be hard to change that.

I agree with this.... and it's pretty inviting to opposing fans... just look at the OP. it's half full of gators.

I'm not sure how true it is but I've heard the requirements for players has been laxed some which if true will help. Also there really isnt a reason Vandy shouldnt do well. A great city to recruit to, one of the best educations you can get in the SEC.

Its also not like the school doesnt have money. Its just can he convince the people with money to invest in football the way they do other sports.

This is a program that will surprise folks...its hard selling athletic endeavors at Vandy where the classroom comes first...but look at Stanford, they have done well on the field.

I think UGA will have its hands full when they travel to Nashvegas in 2013. The stadium needs to expand some and $$ spent on football program, but dont sell Vandy short...Franklin has changed the mindset at Vandy..making them tougher. Nashville is a good place to live and has the music industry/nightlife as a draw to recruits. The problem facing VU is the same one facing UTK..they have to recruit out of state for a lot of recruits....if the recruits have the grades, it is also a great selling point to have a peice of paper hanging on your wall from VU.

I don't think Franklin stays long enough to make the supposed "change" last. Intense coaches like him want to win it all. He can never do that at Vandy. He'll eventually go somewhere that will give him a chance to win championships.

So, only UGA needs to worry about playing at Vandy?

Big money is being spent by the University to improve facilities. A 30 million indoor practice facility (which has already been paid for) is currently under construction. I also anticipate stadium to be expanded to 50k at the completion of next year's schedule.

Yes there is. First row of the endzone sucks! When the action is inside the redzone on the end of the field where you are sitting, you can't see SHITE!!

Vandy will always be Vandy, and nobody gives a rat's arse about Vandy. Their stadium sucks, their team sucks, their fans suck, they just suck.

James Franklin can eat a wang, that old incognegro is overrated and his come-uppins are imminent, I bet my ex-wife's naked pictures on it.
