I don't know what the future holds for Milroe or if he'll succeed in the league, but NFL scouts have proven time and again that they really don't know much more than the rest of us. The draft is a crapshoot.

I never for a second thought Jalen Hurts could ever be successful in the NFL, but he made a huge leap his senior season and the rest is history. He may have done the same under Sark if he'd stayed and been the starter, but still.

It will be interesting to see how Milroe does with a center than can actually snap the ball consistently, and play calling that can utilize his strengths. He had neither last year and was one play away from playing for a championship.

He also had a vintage Saban defense that bailed him out time and time again. Hopefully our defense will be up to the task this season as well

Former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly is not a fan of Caleb Williams. He ripped the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback to shreds during an unhinged rant about his NFL Draft stock.

Admittedly, I do not know if Kelly is a credible source who deserves any sort of attention. However, he did at one point work for the Jets organization as a Pro Scout and has his former credentials to prove it.

This is the same man that declared Spencer Rattler as the best quarterback in this draft class, so take what Kelly says with a grain (maybe a heavy pinch) of salt. Especially considering the history of quarterback play in New York Jersey.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'd hate to see DeBoer's first season be tanked by a QB who just can't get it together

You're worried that the QB who led us to an SECC & CFP is going to "tank the season"

What does his NFL projection have to do with being the Bama QB now?

you post the link here so I can bump it?

Actually,it may have been on TI that I linked it, though I am sure I posted parts of it on BOL too, specifically that Milroe held the ball longer than any other qb.

I just don't have much confidence in Milroe, and have had the opinion, steadfast, since pre season 2023. Some of those fans will be on and off the bandwagon game to game, or sometimes even series to series.

In any event, it's really pointless to argue with Milbros. As I have also suggested several times, the center is gone, Rees is gone, and the new coach is well known for producing prolific offenses. It's time for all the potential to execute. No excuses anymore. I just hope he has a good year and is in the NFL next season. I've had all the potential I can handlle anymore.

TLDR: Scout thinks Milroe is a 3rd round pick instead of a 1st rounder

Yeah and he might be right about Rattler and Caleb Williams. Time will tell.

He said CJ Stroud was a generational talent and should be the first pick in the draft. Nailed that evaluation

Facts. I was impressed with how much he improved last year as he developed confidence, but he really just went from horrible to decent. In the end, he wasn't good enough.

I think this is overblown. Tommy Rees was great last year in transforming chicken shite to chicken salad.

I think it took awhile to figure out what was going to work with that group and what wouldn’t.

Proctor was slow off the ball because he was a bit heavy and a TF. The issue was multiplied because Milroe didn’t know how to step up in the pocket so we were getting eaten alive by the speed rush.

RG and C were also massive issues early. Roberts came in at RG and started mauling people in the run game but the entire country saw what the situation at C was in the CFP and Iron Bowl.

It took until halftime of the Tennessee game for Rees to realize that Milroe needed to run to throw and that the short/intermediate game wasn’t going to happen without it. Even screens were not available.

But as soon as he started running other teams had to spy and it opened things up incredibly.

Even with bad footwork and poor short/intermediate accuracy the guy was the #2 QBR guy in the nation from Tennessee on.

Anyone who says he’s for sure NFL ready is lying. Much like Jayden Daniels he is/was a massive work in progress.

Anyone who says he doesn’t have NFL 1st rd / Heisman upside isn’t being fair either though.

He’s one of the most controversial, frustrating, confusing and explosive players of the entire Saban era so I never get mad when someone else has another take on him because he is absolutely baffling at times to watch.

Not good enough to beat Michigan, but it’s not like he was far off. Rees wasn’t great but I’m not sure we make the SEC CG with BoB, let alone beat UGA

I’m excited to see what DeBoer can do with him

Third-Round

While I'm willing to bet a competent offensive scheme and coaching helps, I'm certain that 3rd round still feels okay.

That sucks. I guess he'll have to get a regular job like the rest of us.

It's more about the glaring issues

Holding the ball longer than any QB in the FBS (alarming to say the least) leading to 44 sacks (ranked 122nd).

Not being able to anticipate at all, and the OC having to dumb down the offense late in the season so he only had to read half the field.

Those are all alarming things to consider heading into the season with an air-raid spread offense.
It's not like he's just a normal SEC QB. This dude has a strange skillset, and it's hard to know what we'll see this season.

It will have to continue. Thinking of having to watch him stand like a statue in the pocket makes me want to heave. Can't wait till him and his political quest for the starting job is gone.

He’s never really impressed me. I mean, he doesn’t suck by any means, but he’s never done anything to where I’m like “whoa, now that’s NFL caliber.” I think he does fit the system and will be a menace to deal with this season for sure.

Stop. We were laughed at by ND fans for taking Rees and they pegged Rees correctly. He's not a good OC. Rees was a significant downgrade from BOB. He's not even in the stratosphere with Kiffin, Sark, and DeBoer. DeBoer is about the best coach to get the most out of Milroe in my opinion. Furthermore, DeBoer has a history with running QBs before he was coaching Power 5 football.

Milroe was far off. The talent surrounding Milroe wasn't far off. Put, Milroe on a middling team he doesn't improve that team. On the other hand, if we had a competent QB who could read a defense and consistently complete intermediate passes and we would've won the national championship.
