JMO but best coach on that list. What he has done with Utah following Meyer has been outstanding. If Saban left I would have no problem with him unless someone like Davis or a known great HC wanted the job.

Muschamp (wishful thinking) then
Davis
Harbaugh
Skip Holz
Hootie

of that list, I would prefer
Jim Harbaugh
and then Houston Nutt
I dont think Harbaugh is leaving Stanford for a NCAA job.
Nutt is a great motivator, who would do well with the incredible talent in Louisiana.
Harbaugh is better, and not leaving Stanford.
Meanwhile, Les is still HC of LSU and will be until after the 2011, which class is setting up to be all time. AD is not messing with that gold mine.
Also, while the QB's are nothing to write home about, I think LSU will surprise BAMA and win the SEC west.

I was listening to the same thing. The host has a serious hard on for Nutt and it made that whole segment weird.

for everyone thinking this... guess again.

8. The news that Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds will have his contract extended beyond 2011 created a little stir and caused some to think that Mack Brown (a possible, if likely, successor) will remain as head coach for a longer time and force head coach-designate Will Muschamp to go elsewhere as a head coach. I think there’s a good chance that could happen. After all, Muschamp turned down Tennessee and gave its AD, Mike Hamilton, a strong endorsement for eventual hire Louisiana Tech’s Derek Dooley, who happens to be the son of long-time coach/AD Vince Dooley at Georgia. And Georgia might be Muschamp’s future employer. One Texas source told me this spring that Mack will coach at least another five seasons. Said a school official this week, “It wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed 15.” Me either.

Muschamp is a Good possibility

Saw this and it got my hopes up then I read the paragraph and

Georgia might be Muschamp’s future employer.

Sorry I'm just chiming in this thread, but my pick is:
Patterson
Patterson
Patterson
in that order. The dude can flat out coach a scary defense. The only question mark on him is his recruiting abilities, but I would take a gamble on that considering he put some guys in the NFL this past year, so I know he could do the same at LSU.

I think you'll find Muschamp very open to leaving now.
He nearly left for AU but his demands were a bit much. He is not as solid to Texas as people think he was just using it as a bargaining chip.

You might want to ask who WILL be the next coach at state....seems its a merry go round over there....oh, and you can quit worrying about LSU...we'll be fine...as time has shown...

Peterson would be an excellent choice, the only problem he is entrenched in the Boise St. community.

Stanford fans will REALLY be pissed at LSU if they take their football coach too.
