It is clearly in the top 3 in the nation and in a lot of people's opinions it will be #1.
Everyone loved the renderings. They clearly didn't show how fricked up the inside would be. After these actual pics have come out, you really think people are that high on it?

You need to calm down. Once all the seats and signage get in there it will be fine.

Don Johnson who is your sporting allegiance??
Listen, I like Baylor's stadium more than A&M, but not because of symmetry. it does look really nice, and by function of it being brand spanking new, everything is done cleanly and aesthetically.
I suspect all A&M fans, if given the choice, would prefer either the old incarnation of Kyle field or the renovated over Mclane. Baylor fans preferring Mclane.
The two stadiums are very different and well represent the difference between the programs. Mclane is new, shiny, has no history. Kyle is enormous, beloved, and has a history thats ugliness is covered with a new and expensive facade.
KIDDING!
I don't know when I will have a good reason to visit the stadium again but I'm sure I will be impressed. Can we please not compare two completely different stadiums anymore?

Totally agree. It's like comparing tackle boxes to toilets. Just doesn't work.

Every single announcer that calls a game at Kyle will do nothing but drool over it. Same thing happened when we redid the Bright Complex.
You see a few pics and you think you have a feel for what the stadium is like. You don't. It is impressive as hell in person and provides a lot of things few college stadiums can and several that none can.
I'd said this before, but you take the west side and made it be all 4 sides, it would be the nicest stadium in the world.

Mclane is very nice
Kyle is very nice
But they are truly apples and oranges

The renderings had people in the seats, but the structure itself is virtually identical to the renderings. The triangular corner section is about the only difference.
If you don't like it fine, but stop making shite up to justify your opinion.

You had half a billion to do whatever you wanted.
Demolishing the stadium and building a brand new one of equal size and scope would have required one of two things:
1: An ENORMOUS budget (well over $1 billion) to get the thing done in about 18 months and playing one season in a half-finished stadium that would be a nightmare for student and season ticket holders.
2: Crushing the College Station economy by moving home games to Houston for at least one full season and most likely two while we completed a 100k stadium for the same half a billion. There are many business which make a HUGE portion of their annual profits during those 7 weekends every year.
#2 was simply not an option due to blowback from the local businesses (which collectively give a shite ton of money to the University to advertise) and #1 was a logistical nightmare that would have likely resulted in a more symmetrical but half-assed effort in attempts to get done quickly. Not to mention that no University in the country could generate that kind of money for a rebuild.

I agree with the OP. It's a beautiful stadium. Here's the latest aerial footage.
Oh - and it looks exactly like the renderings. More than any building I've ever seen built, this one looks exactly like the renderings. It's uncanny, really.

I really don't see how anyone can watch that video and call this stadium terrible. I get that many might not find it aesthetically pleasing, but that is a MASSIVE venue and very imposing.
It definitely has structural oddities, but I honestly like stadiums with a lack of symmetry and consistency. It distinguishes college stadiums built over many decades from pro stadiums. Beaver Stadium is awesome and it is every bit as quirky as Kyle.

It looks like the renderings because they didn't show how screwed up the interior would be. The exterior looks awesome for the most part. But come on, be honest, you have to admit a lot of the interior looks bad. I know yall circle the wagons whenever anyone dares to criticize you, but it just doesn't fit together.

It objectively looks different, and in some ways odd, but "bad" is purely subjective. I don't have to admit any such thing because I don't think it looks bad.
When I think of bad looking stadiums, I think of ones with portable bleachers in the endzones and huge gaps in seating and those almost entirely made up of bleacher seats with no boxes or premium chair backs. Old Kyle looked bad IMO.

The outside is beautiful and unique. The inside is kwarky, but I also love it. Besides, you won't see that when its full, lots of great stadiums are not symmetrical, and it has a character that only stadiums with long history have.
I honest-to-God LOVE that stadium, as do most unbiased observers - as evidenced by this very thread. For the most part, it's only Aggie haters who don't like it.

I see the Aggy talking points are that asymmetry is cool, Oregon fricking states stadium is cool too (random I know), and baylors new aesthetically pleasing stadium is garbage. It's okay for yall to be disapoint at blowing a 1/2 bill on the renovation........

Exactly
90% of the posters here as well as pretty much every CFB analyst and commentator have nothing but good things to say about it. Let the haters bemoan it while having to listen to every broadcast crew jizz themselves this season.
Kirk Herbstreit has already called it the most impressive renovation in American sports history. That is just the beginning of the rave reviews you'll see this year.

no offense to Kirk but he's a fricking idiot. What BAMA did at Bryant Denny is nothing short of a miracle.

Speaking of cookie cutter stadiums, Jordan-Hare is in desperate need of an upgrade.
