Golden Band > MDB

LSU does what a band is supposed to do. They involve the crowd. On 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down every LSU fan knows what is coming.

Right now I'd rather they pump the music in like they were doing against UT.

FWIW, I have to give my wife credit. Me and her both enjoy Chinese Bandits on 3rd down so she had this idea for the MDB when we hold someone on 3rd down. The MDB didn't really take to it.

In crowd involvement, absolutely. Golden Band plays songs the crowd loves and therefore get great participation. In quality? No.

Chinese Bandits is cool, but I actually like Les Miserables better. That is what we play after 3rd down stops.

Based upon what criteria? LSU's band was unanimously voted best in the SEC a few years ago in a poll of the conference's band directors. Even Bama's band director voted for TGBFTL.

Chinese Bandits is original to LSU. Les Miz is used by several college bands as the "theme" for their defense. Besides, it's a Broadway show tune.....lame.

You must've missed the earlier post in this thread.

I know that...so is South Carolina's fight song. I suppose I should clarify my statement. I meant that using a Broadway show tune for your big 3rd down stop music is weak, in my opinion.

But it sounds just like I've been working on the railroad. My brothers and I have always laughed at that. Doesn't UGA use a similar tune? It's quite silly really. It's hard to think of a song like that getting you fired up.

i dont see how using it as a 3rd down cheer makes it any more weaker then how lsu uses hey fighting tigers.

Alabama's bands not bad it just ain't as good as it once was.

Kind of like the Toby Keith song.

If they let me pick the music they would be better.

Uh, no. You're the type of person who also thinks "Fantastic 4" is a better movie than "No Country for Old Men," because you don't understand what constitutes quality in music (or film).

There is a difference between popularity and quality, kiddo. Just because LSU's band received the most online votes for the Indiana Jones contest does not make them the best band in the country. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news.

It is confusing when Auburn plays UGA who's playing what????

Also when Tigers teams play and they play "Tiger Rag" the song that goes, "HOld that Tiger, Hold that Tiger."

That is one song folks need to dump. I remember when the Auburn band used to play when Johnny comes Marching home.

My goodness can folks update the tunes!!

The Auburn band did play "thriller" on Halloween.

You have no idea what you are talking about. In quality, TGBFTL is head and shoulders above the MDB. Also, the votes he was talking about were from band directors from every SEC school. Not the online Indiana Jones contest- which LSU won as well.

I often wonder how confusing it must be when they play each other.
Not very.

1 - Glory Glory isn't the Auburn fight song (it is UGA's).

2 - UGA adds an extra note because they sing "and to hell with Georgia Tech" 7 syllables/notes, where we spell out Auburn and only use 6 notes.

FWIW, Rocky Top isn't the official fight song of Tenn either.

The University of Southern Mississippi's Pride of Mississippi Marching Band is one of the best marching bands I have ever heard...they are great

and I think they are better than any SEC schools band...
