Did not know that. For this reason alone I don’t like him.

Outside of actual games, if you’re on ESPN and your name is anything other than Van Pelt, I will not be watching.

Pollack didn't offer any real insight. Not a bad guy, but staying obvious and being a slight homer did not help his cause.
I will take Pollack all day over McAfee. Pollack is at least business as usual.
McaFee is just a clown. And on his own program he looks like a bum with his wife beater or whatever. Who does he think he is connecting with? You?

I don’t get the hate for Pollack. I thought he was pretty good, and not trying to be a Georgia homer. I’m sure he’s doing just fine. But I rarely watched it the last 10 years, so what would I know.only saw certain takes, at certain times. But never hated his takes.
There's a large percentage of posters here who hate anyone who didn't go to the school they root for. Pollack is a perfect example. He was fine. He loved college football and it showed, yet posters here hate him simply because he went to UGa. Rece Davis is another one. He's a solid host. Moves the action along and has enough wit and charm to be enjoyable. You could watch him for months and never even get a hint he went to Alabama. Yet, as soon as they found that out, the large number of Bama penis envy types on here started creating whole narratives about how Rece is a rank homer.

Disagree with all points… he just needs to go. Personality not meshing
We can agree to disagree. Points 1-3 are factual no matter who doesn't like them. Points 4-5 are my opinion and are fairly debatable.
Nowhere in my post did I say that I was a big McAfee fan.

Spot on. Conversely, there are plenty of Bama fans who fault him for not being MORE of a homer.
Rece once told me "You know I love Alabama. I just know who signs my paycheck right now."

This right here! It used to be appointment television. Be a college gameday show. That’s all anyone wants.
I think it's worth noting that we're talking about ESPN here. They've pretty much proven that there is no winning formula that they are unwilling to tinker with to screw up.
Their management is by and large a huge crapshow. Just look at the immense talent they let go and who they kept in this latest round of layoffs.

This. It’s a relic of its former self.

Do away with the 5+ human interest stories and make it only 2 hours long again. Nobody wants to be depressed as frick when they watch college football shows
I’ve been saying this since I was in high school 10+ years ago. fricking bizarre that ESPN just keeps sticking with it. Nothing better than starting your beautiful fall Saturday morning off with an ultra depressing story about someone’s fricked up life while you’re trying to get excited about a fun day of watching football

I love McAfee.

No one likes Desmond either but he's been on the show how long? Desmond is damn moron.
It's not just the talent, but the programming. It's Disney trash, and most people are turned off by it. The show just isn't good and lost it's mystique long ago. Hell, I haven't watched CGD in years. The only clips I see are those posted on websites like this one.

This is dead on. McAfee is playing the role he was hired to do. A little buffoonery and levity. Not really a fan, but he’s not supposed to be taken seriously.
Howard is by far the bigger problem. He’s completely clueless. Herbstreit is very knowledgeable, but he’s a weepy, gaping vagina.
Show is just bad all around, save Rece.

3. As someone with specific insight to College Game Day, McAfee was ultimately brought to eventually replace Corso and his failing health - that is, for comic relief and to be the outspoken contrarian. In that regard, he's done his job fairly well, and really exactly what they have asked him to do.
Not really

McAfee is tolerable is small doses. Too much and the former punter try-hard meathead just gets old quick.

Mad respect for him actually listening to the audience and giving them what they want.

It's hilarious that it seems like all of the game day crew is on Twitter trying to defend the guy and talk how awesome he is
